Taemin's "Want" is one of those songs that the lyrics take the song and performance up to the next level. :D The lyrics give the song and performance a whole other feel and it helps to explain the images and story you see being told in the dance and MV. (You should now watch the MV with the CC English translation of the lyrics on, so you can understand the performance better.) Many people think that "Want" has a vampire vibe, and I can see where some might get the vampire feel from this MV. After all, one of Taemin's nicknames is SHINee's eternal vampire because in some performances and MVs, the way he looks and the aesthetic of the performance gives him a vampire image. However, in "Want" Taemin is supposed to be portraying Lucifer. His movements are slow and calculated because like Lucifer, he is supposed to be seducing the audience and the girl using his devilish powers. That's why his dance moves look like he is slithering like a snake, etc. Taemin is a devout Catholic, and most of this MVs showcases his faith as it tells the story using numerous Biblical references. Fun fact: One of Taemin's backup dancers in his "Want" MV is Yoo JiMin (Karina) who is a member of SM's new girl group aespa. She participated in this song as a rookie trainee even before aespa's debut. She was also a backup dancer for some live performances of the song. "Want" was, once again, choreographed by Sugawara Koharu. You can see her signature style in this dance. She has worked with Taemin a lot over the years. She is the one that also choreographed Taemin's dance for his songs "Move," "Flame of Love" and "Sayonara Hitori" and helped choreograph Taemin and her performance on the competition program Hit the Stage -- "Devil" performance, etc., and she was one of 3 or 4 choreographers who helped choreograph "Criminal." Taemin and Sugawara are really good friends. She was also the choreographer for SHINee's song "Good Evening," among others. She loves working with Taemin because they are a lot alike, and that is one of the reasons why she has been featured in several of Taemin's projects. Taemin has always been known for saving his energy for where it counts the most -- for live performances and for filming MVs -- dance practices for him are literally dance practices, so he is just allowing himself to feel the dance and get in the groove. He is less worried about being spot on exact and more about showing everyone the feel of the choreography and the story behind the dance. The style and aesthetic in "Want" is just the kind of vibe we have all come to expect from Taemin. He has a very sensual/sexy way of moving and, as a soloist, it's kind of his signature thing.That is why all his songs are titles such as "Danger," "Soldier" "Sexuality," "Tiger," "Press Your Number," "Guess Who," "Mystery Lover," "Hypnosis," "Crazy 4 U," "Flame of Love," " Under My Skin," "Thirsty," "Want," "Criminal," etc. or "Ace," "Already", "Door, "Pretty Boy," "Move" "Artistic Groove," "Famous," "Idea," etc. Each song is meant to show you exactly why he is one of the best in the industry even just by their titles. I find it interesting that all of his songs, with the titles alone, tell you exactly what Taemin is all about. If you look at all the titles of his songs, you will see that the titles convey one of two things about him, either painting a picture of his sexy and sensual onstage personality, or they explain his dedication and passion as an artist. Taemin is just one of those performers that leaves you speechless every time he steps on stage. He was born to be a performer and that is one of the reasons why he has become known as the Korean Michael Jackson. That is also why, as one of the top two dancers in the industry, he was made a member of SuperM. And the title of the industry's BEST dancer isn't just a fan's opinion but it's a widely agreed upon title given to him by his peers and the industry as a whole. There is literally no one considered better than him (and Kai). His talents are one reason why SHINee are one of the top groups in the industry and why they have such legendary status. SHINee is made up of some of the absolute best singers, dancers and performers in the entire industry. With 13 years since their debut, they still command one of the top spots. When Taemin debuted in 2008 as part of SHINee he was only 14 years old and, yet, he was already known as one of the best dancers in the industry, and he has only gotten more magnificent over the years. The funny thing is, although Taemin is ultra confident when on stage, when not performing his personality is the complete opposite.That's what makes him even more lovable and why he is so popular. When on stage, Taemin can turn his sexy, sensual side up to 3,000 and he become the most powerful and magnificent performer that command the stage. But the minute he step off the stage he becomes quiet and shy and he blushes when people compliment him for his looks or performance. When not on stage, Taemin is known for being sort of innocent and kind of naive and a little ditsy, as only the maknae (youngest member) of a group can get away with -- he is 2 to 4 years younger than the rest of the SHINee members and he plays up being the baby when he is around them, and they pretty much will do anything he asks. He knows how to be cute when he wants something, but he hates it when someone asks him to be cute. LOL. As a member of SHINee, Taemin is expected to constantly be coming out with something you have never seen or heard before. SHINee's whole concept is that they are SM's experimental boy group, which means that they are ALWAYS changing up their sound and style and reinventing the industry with every new release of theirs, even within the same album. The industry looks to the members of SHINee to show them what the next style of song and dance will be. And, not only does it have to be new to them, but it is expected to be something new in the industry overall. So, after more than a decade Taemin has pretty much done every style of song and dance out there, and yet, he still manages to one up himself and create something new that continues to be unbelievable every time. On top of being a member of SHINee for 13 years, Taemin solo career began in 2014, so he has 3 full length Korean albums and 3 mini albums, as well as 3 Japanese albums, plus he has had several solo concert tours. So there are an endless number of MVs and performances you could watch. Some of Taemin's solo MVs I would recommend are "Danger," "Drip Drop", "Press Your Number" "Flame of Love" "Goodbye (Sayonara Hitori), Thirsty," etc. Some of his live concert performances of his solo songs I recommend would be "Sexuality, "Door," "Tiger," "Ace" "Soldier", etc., etc., plus hundreds of SHINee MVs and live performances as well. You can't go wrong with any of SHINee's songs or Taemin's solos.

This song will forever be one of my favourite Taemin songs. I just LOVE the vibe, the melodies, the instrumental, the dance. There is one particular live performance, where he freestyles the little instrumental bit in the beginning so perfectly that it legit looks like he becomes possessed with the music.
