HELP!! I took my daughter who is forward to get Fairy Hair an absolute love the idea I am beginning to wrap this and you are right it takes a lot of work and practice. I am having a hard time getting closer to the head in an inch and they fell out quickly on my daughter. I’ve watched your videos and still don’t know what I’m doing wrong.

@@roxysena26 Hi Roxy! It's super normal to be an inch away, that is no problem. The secret trick to very soft fine hair (which young children often have) is that extra little tug to make totally sure the knot is all the way closed at the end. It means re-grabbing the tails of the sparkle and tugging and making sure that knot all the way closes. Fairy hair does not stay long on kiddos 4 and under in general, so if your kiddo is that small that is also totally normal - hope this is helpful!

Hello! I too was tying it using the slip knot method because I never thought I would be able to do the pro fairy knot. I wanted to learn so badly! Thanks to your videos it has helped me learn. I’m beyond happy that I can do it now using the tool or my finger. I put tinsel in my daughter’s hair constantly. She’s special needs/full care and for me fairy hair is a thing her and I can share. 🧚 THANK YOU ❣️❣️❣️

i’ve been watching video after video trying to figure out how to do this and yours was the most helpful by far!! a lot of videos seemed to leave out the fact that the wand/finger had to be angled or turned in a very specific way. thank you for this! i’m so excited to use these skills!!

I know you don't post often, but I want you to know HOW MUCH your tutorials have helped me. I have been hand tying (slipknot method) for 8 years in my salon. When I first started, I tried for months to learn the traditional way and I just could not get it. I'm left handed and it was always a struggle. I watched your tutorial for one hour and I got it down! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!! I will definitely be purchasing my next round of tinsel from you 💜

Hi Sara ! Why do you like to do fairy hair what makes it so special for your clients?
@SeraFaery

This is a wonderful question, thank you! I love everything about fairy hair - playing with people's hair, the sparkliness, the smiles and glitteriness as they walk away happily. My customers often tell me that it's uplifting and joyful for them, and that the experience itself is very peaceful and gentle, and they appreciate the time to just sit and be still for a little while, while a fairy adorns them

Is there a minimum length of hair that you would do this on? I had someone come in with about three inches at most looking for tinsel.

Very! It's a steep learning curve and the fine motor skills and detail are not easy for most people, but with some determination and practice it gets easier - building up finger strength for this movement helps a lot, when I show lefties my left hand still cramps up after about ten minutes lol

Sera, what do you suggest is best, doing it by hand or by the faery wand? I've had a hard time with the faery wand.
@SeraFaery
@SeraFaery Жыл бұрын
It's totally up to you! I do much better with a pixie hook (either handle works for me), but I know some people who only tie by hand, that limits you only in length of hair which will need to be long enough to loop around your fingers.

What do you do with the extra tail of the silk? Do you snip it off or leave it to hang?
@SeraFaery
@SeraFaery Жыл бұрын
@@ambivalent5842 I have always kept all of the faery hair strand in tact, the "tail" can often be the entire length of the hair, depending on length, so effectively is a strand folded in half, I consider this a single strand, still. I don't know why anyone would ever clip anything off though I am aware that some sparklers do this, all I can imagine is that they are using really thick poor quality sparkles that are too heavy to leave the full length? If I'm sparkling very long hair, the 'tail' can end up very short, I try to leave at least 3-4 inches so that it doesn't stick straight up like an alfalfa sprout (I had someone do this to me once, as my hair is longer than the sparkles, typically) - better to have it not reach the ends but tie more sparkles further down in different parts of the hair to reach all layers, if that makes sense. Faery Hair will wave into curly/wavy hair naturally after the first couple of washes, and it can be curled with a curling iron along with hair just fine, but it will never be "curly" like curly hair - if it is curled, it will eventually relax back into more of a wavy shape. Most of my curly girls enjoy this effect, but there are a few people don't like the difference in shape against their curls. Hope that's helpful!

There are pixie hooks and silk faery hair sparkles at the online shop: faeryhairsparkles.com - if you're out of the US and need international shipping I can do a private transaction if that helps. my email is serafaery@yahoo.com

Good question! I can ship internationally via a private transaction (my online store is at faeryhairsparkles.com ) - but it's kind of tricky and I don't have a good system for this. If you want to email me at serafaery@yahoo.com maybe we can arrange this? I started purchasing from Karen at Silk Shimmerz back when I started in 2009, you could try her website if that's easier than trying to work something out with me? silkshimmerz.com - that's the only other source I trust for the highest quality sparkles :)

I can get the knot although I find it so hard to see the hair especially when it’s blonde or red. I also can’t seem to get the knot close to the head.
@SeraFaery
@SeraFaery Жыл бұрын
Good job getting it! Yes paler hair can be harder, good lighting (and maybe a pair of reading glasses) can help. Don't worry, the knot will creep closer over time, it takes a while - also this technique isn't designed to get right up against the scalp, i don't want to do that and there's no need, when the knot is so tiny and it's just one strand, and inch down is totally fine and still blends in with the hair beautifully, if you use the genuine faery hair sparkles. (thicker synthetic sparkles won't lay down as nicely and the knot will be chunky and more noticeable and won't last as long.)

This method is good, but you can't get the knot right up to the scalp, right? It always leaves about an inch from the scalp. I've tried over and over.
@SeraFaery
@SeraFaery Жыл бұрын
You are correct that it will never be right up against the skin - this is safer actually. Slip knots can get right up to the scalp, but a) they tend to slip back down (hence the name) and b) since most people tie with multiple hairs if they do slip knots, instead of a single hair, this can cause significant discomfort and redness, I've had people come to me with painful red spots where the slip knots were tied because they went to someone else instead of me, begging me to cut them out because they hurt so much. An inch away is typical, as you get more practice you can get a little closer, half an inch or even a full inch is generally perfectly fine and the hair will still blend in and hide the knot really well. there is a secret way to slide it down even closer, but that only works with certain types of very soft hair.

Personally my prices for in-person sparkling services are billed by time and these days, after sparkling for 14 years, only by private appointment, not per sparkle - everyone's business is different and people have different approaches to pricing that works for them. If you're asking about faery hair starter kits and sparkles that I sell, the pricing can be found at the online shop website: faeryhairsparkles.com
