@@Tinnmann that won’t matter it’s only gonna be useful where your hands are knob and throat being important. There is a big difference with oiled wood handles. For those who might see this, other than Linseed oil, Teak oil works just as fine and is cheaper. You can also use birch oil made for free easily (it's darker a bit) but it will seal fairly well. You can also go with pine tar mixed inside of those oils a bit for some nice color/protection.

Its not quality at all which is the issue. Its the general misuse of them. They are forged for Swedish trees which are primarily softwoods. Dinguses here in the States think “this is the best axe, so time to get a choppin” and they take the axe to an oak tree and break it. If you want to cut hardwoods use a different axe or take better care of your tools.

Wranglerstar took your advice on the Obenofs for some new boots I recently bought and I'll be using it on all my other leather items. Only heard about cause of you and bought because of your confidence in it.

Ok, got it. Polish my handle once a day for a week, once a week for a month, once a month for a year. It's going to be tough, just once a month, though.

Have one. For 30 years and still running. Changed the handle after 25 years. You never have to buy another axe in that size.

I like his tips because for the most part, you can tell they originated from one of his great great x grandpas.. who then each told their sons over the years. that's what we call tried and true. aka, reliable information.

Got to love Gränsfors Bruk proudly representing Sweden! I've heard it said that linseed oil should be applied "every day for a week, every week for a month, every month for a year, and then every year going forward". Might be a bit overkill compared to what you recommended but it's neat and easy to remember.
