If anyone gets a solid red light from the control key (rather than green light) you’ll have to reset the control key by pushing it upwards in the boiler for 5 seconds, then removing it before pairing it again through the app. This should fix the problem and the EasyControl and the control key should then communicate with each other

You can also reset control key by pressing on the red light whilst it is in. Doesn't feel like anything is being pressed. But it will turn yellow

major problem with a brand new system 8000 boiler just installed today with a new easy control and key. key will not pair properly with app or controller - keeps being recognised as a radiator controller - worcester told my engineer he needed to update the controller because it's on an old firmware but the app will keep failing updates because Germany has decided to stop that feature and capability in our region (UK) . So here is a new system with a 12 year guarantee that even bosch can't fix on day 1 !

Update from Worcester Bosch Support.... "Due to the introduction of the new EU Digital Content (770/19) and Sales of Goods (771/19) directives which require the user to be in control of the installation of updates, and for user consent to be provided and stored, we require your written permission to update your EasyControl to the latest firmware. Please state in your own words that you give permission for Worcester, Bosch Group to remotely install the latest firmware update, and please also provide the 9-digit serial number of your EasyControl (e.g. 101-xxx-xxx). Once we have your written consent by email we will pass this to our Server Team in Deventer, Holland and they will endeavour to action the update within 48 hours, however depending on what firmware you are currently on this can sometimes take longer as it must update through each iteration of firmware. The original firmware was 01.04.00 which will then pass through 01.06.00, 03.02.00, 03.08.00 & finally 03.10.00. If you have an 8000, 2000, or 4000 boiler you will be able to connect to this once you reach 03.02.00. To determine which firmware you are on currently you can unclip your EasyControl from the wall and reclip it back on, on the screen it will show the firmware number. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your co-operation. If you require further advice please do not hesitate to contact us. Regards, Technical Support Worcester, Bosch Group" So now I'm just waiting (and waiting) for Worcester Bosch to press some buttons - so I can then update the EasyControl so I can then pair the control key with the EasyControl and it recognises it as a control key and not as a TRV as its doing at the moment......... why don't you put this consent option in the app itself and save all this time and effort !

@@DavidNicholds2 I'm going through this at the moment. How long did it take to get your firmware updated? Update from firmware version 01.04.00 to 01.06.00 took 9 hours from the time of providing consent. It's now been another 18 hours without further update. I'm advised that once I receive the next update (to 03.02.00) I will be able to pair the control key to the EasyContril unit, and hopefully be able to turn my heating on! Tech Support are no help. Grumpy Malcolm told me would take as long as it takes - possibly 4/5 days - and I'd just have to wait! Couldn't tell me why it might take so long. Surely a firmware update packet should only take a few seconds to push out over the internet, shouldn't it?

According to a tech expert at Bosch this as to be wired to the boiler for it to work I told him about this model and that it’s wireless not wired and would not give me a replacement Key which is not connecting to the easy control ,you really need to update your tech team on the switchboard

I have two electrical cables in my wall where my hive used to be. Any idea whether I can connect the back plate to the BUS cables instead of using the supplied plug as shown in this video?

How is the box powered? We want it in another room connected with the wireless key, but no where on any site is there the option to buy a power adapter to go in the wall. I do not want a plug socket, I want it hard wired inside the wall. Please advise

You can power it from pretty much any 15V dc power supply.

You don’t get the wire because you don’t need it to be wired to the boiler it’s wireless you need to connect it to a power outlet then download the app is the quickest way then fit the easy control bracket to the wall then hook the easy control on the bracket ones the two wires from the other end plugged in and turned on the QR codes 9 times out of 10 don’t connect you need to put the numbers in , then connect it to your wifi by putting your password for your wifi password in then it’s normally pretty simple

I can't sync the control key with easy control panel. No serial number on the control key to add, just barcode also not readable. The key inserted in boiler with solid orange light on. But still can't control the heating through easy control app..

@@kateaustin88 Yeah. You can find it on the device on the back side of it. If you installed it already, take it off and look at the back of it. Take a photo of it, because you will need two series of numbers located there. Once you pair it with a phone, it will update the firmware and from there on, you will able to see it on the last screen on the Thermostat itself.

What is the point of selling it without RF Key and with no power supply? How should the customer know that he needs to buy something in addition to the thermostat to get it to work? Can somebody please explain that to me? Its like you have bought lawn mower and it comes without the engine. Then you read manual and they do not tell you where do you get the engine from. How ridiculous is that?? Just unpcked the box to realise the power supply is NOT included. To make it more annoying - It doesnt say where do you get one. Not to mention that in addition you need to also buy the RF key to get it to work What a complete pile of s..t. BOSCH-Worcester - never again. Thank you.

The normal way to install a thermostat is a wired connection to the boiler. The same is true for the EasyControl.

Totally agree with the initial incredulity at Bosch for not communicating openly and honestly anywhere that the EasyControl does NOT come with a power supply, but the RF key does! Ridiculously dishonest. Fortunately, we were intending to buy the RF key, so once that arrived, we were able to successfully install the EasyControl and sync it to the RF key and our new Worcester Greenstar 8000 Life boiler. Nice boiler.

@@nexxxus6 Its perfectly reasonable for bosch to do that. The normal way to install the easycontrol is with a wired connection to the boiler, no power supply needed. If you want a wireless connection you also need the RF key, so that just comes with the power supply.

And I've just had a brand new 4000 installed TODAY (8th OCt 2024), and the Easy Control unit still has NO power supply supplied and I had to order the RF Key separately, again no instruction that you need to buy all these additional parts as well as the actual boiler, bloody stupid to sell a boiler without all the parts needed to make it work properly, sell it as a complete package you idiots

Same for me, sometimes 3 times a day I would need to reset the unit to re establish WiFi connectivity. So I thought it must be a wifi compatibility issue, so I hooked up my old WiFi router with 54g to my main router, which is plenty good enough for communication with the controller. Set the Easy Controller to cooect to that WiFi access point and nothing else, and it seems to have stopped the Easy Controller loosing WiFi connection. Pretty pants really. Wish I'd stuck with the Hive.

I see only red cross next to the fire symbol and I can´t do anything more... Looks like the touchscreen is not working. I see the symbol of wifi and bosch server below the fire symbol, but I can´t do over this red cross symbol. Any ideas, please? Or is the touchscreen broken? I really don´t know.
