Thanks is for video Pete, is it much different to wire up hive for CH and HW? Thanks
@petegasguy2 жыл бұрын
If you have a system boiler then it’ll generally connect to the wiring centre (usually found where the tanks are.) I’ll level with you - i could put a video up about it but i generally call our spark in to do it. There are a few variations and the wiring to the backplate is different (easily found online by typing ‘hive wiring diagram dual channel’) However… it has been known that the backplate on some common ‘older’ stats match the hive back plate - and sometimes you can literally take the old one off and pop the hive on with no wiring alterations. That being said - if i were you - grab a sparky and ask them to take a look if there’s 1% of doubt.

Hi I have a Greenstar 40CDi boiler, but it has a hot water cylinder + a tank in the loft. I've bought hive that does both hot water and heating - Could you explain what is different for wiring that one in? I opened the boiler up to have a look but the blocks for connections on the inside panel are slightly different to your diagram. Also mine runs on LPG (Doubt that makes a difference, but just incase!) It would be much appreciated! I'm capable with wiring, just scared of shorting out the PCB by getting the wires in the wrong place and being without any heat (Did that once on my old Vokera... Oops) Thanks!
@petegasguy Жыл бұрын
Will run from wiring centre and not the boiler mate. Wiring centre often found near tank… your old programmer is the key. Find the wiring diagram for the old programme (lne and demands…) and then marry that up with the hive dual channel wiring (google it and multiple images will appear.) As always - i’m not there and can’t see what’s going on… if in doubt pay a sparky.

Hi - I’ve wired this up to the greenstar HE plus, which is the one with the built in clock and programme timer. The only way for the hive to work seems to be when the timer is set to constant on, which means the fan is on the whole time. No mate. If you want it as a standalone unit then no - you don’t need a hub. If you want to use your phone then yes, you need a hub. Updates…? Unlikely it’ll need an update for the standalone version. It’s just a signal thats sent remotely from the stat to receiver. Hub will often need updating, which usually happens automatically… but usually security updated etc. If you dont want to use your phone then buy the one without a hub.
