Her cover of 'I Want to Know What Love Is' live at MYX ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5XVn3WEeb94lbM ) is definitely one of my favorites. But, for something with a different vibe either Jessie J's 'Ain't Been Done' ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqjQZ6ajm7F4nLs ) or her rocking cover of Demi Lavato's 'Tell Me You Love Me' ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/nonReJWYocp2esk ). On a side note, if you would like to hear another incredible vocalist, give a listen to Sohyang from South Korea. She has an amazing voice as well and her story just makes it even more so, plus she does all her own arrangements. Morissette Amon - The Voice The World Needs To Hear Morissette Amon possess one of the most incredible voices I have ever heard - and I grew up in a generation that included Donna Summer, Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. I don’t think there’s a soul alive that doesn’t regard at least one of them amongst the greatest female voices of all time. It was near the end of 2020 when one of my followers on Twitter recommended that I listen to a Filipina singer named Morissette. They were even kind enough to leave a link to the video! As I watched her performance in amazement, I started to run out of adjectives to describe what I was hearing and seeing. Morissette quite literally took my breath away. After her performance I honestly felt the need to take a moment to compose myself. I had an episode to finish after-all but I knew that I had just witnessed something extraordinary. That’s when the question started to enter my mind. How can a video have over 30 million views and yet be something that I’ve never heard of?? I mean, this is what I do! So, I ventured deeper and deeper down the rabbit hole and learned a few things. She has many videos and performances that have gone ultra viral including studio versions and original material. She’s highly revered in the Philippines along with other icons like Arnel Pineda (Journey), Marcelito Pomoy and boxer/senator Manny Pacquiao. In fact, she’s loved throughout Asia and is even referred to as Asia’s Phoenix. It’s that last part that really got me thinking. Why aren’t western audiences being exposed to a generational talent like Mori? I don’t have the answers but I know that I can at least do my part and maybe, just possibly, someone who is reading this hasn’t heard of her before. Why? Because my hope is that they will seek out her performances and music just like I did and will become as huge fan - just like I am. There’s something magnetic about her performance personality. Mr. Marz, That was such a great and truthful article of Mori. Thank you for recognizing her. I'm 65 yo and grew up listening to legendaries such as Whitney, Mariah C.,Donna S. I've never met any younger singers of today who I can compare as one of the great singers until I ran into Morissette's you tube videos. She puts you in a trance and titillate your nervous system. Her voice is addictive. I believe her tone reaches that part of the brain that enhances dopamine production (honestly -I'm talking this way because I am a physician who knows the brain more than the lay person). My daughter and husband gets annoyed with my obsession over her performances (they just don't understand). I'm also all for emotional projection with singers. It's such an honest emotion. I've heard the term morrified. Yup that's what she does, she hits my brain waves that need to hear more of her. Never felt this way with any other singers. Any antidote? I think not.

There is no antidote lol Love your description! As for your family, they will come around. There is a quote that says "the right people will hear you differently " it is no accident who her voice reaches. There is a reason for all of this! This is not about charts or sales when it comes to Morissette. Her voice reaching the earths corners is for a higher reason! This may sound mystical but so be it! I believe this to be very true.

First of all thanks a bunch for wrting the article praising her amazing vocal talent. Its a big compliment coming from a professional musician but a very credible one too. You are indeed a Mowinatic. There are other American musicians and vocal coaches worldwide who are spreading Morissette's music by sharing her youtube videos and we are grateful to them as well. The reason i think the majority of the crowd didnt respond excitingly to her performance is because the song was in English and most Koreans doesnt understand English. This was held in South Korea, with a crowd made up mostly of young K-Pop fans. However, some discerning folks obviously were present because Morissette got invited again in 2018. (There's a video clip of a backstage moment where some K-Pop idols enthusiastically met and congratulated Mori for her performance). There are already some Korean reactors to Mori on YT; they say that her talent is the kind that is rare in the SK scene because the industry is geared more towards honing K-Pop idols rather than developing great singers..btw you are currently my favorite reactor on Morissette. Tommy, thank you so much for writing that great article. As for this performance, if anyone ever doubted it before, this performance proved that Morissette is a WORLD CLASS performer. At like 22, 23 years old she performed in a foreign country in front of thousands of people who mostly spoke Korean. BTW, this is why the crowd was dead, the festival is mostly Kpop and they didn't expect or care much for Mori at that time; however, some people noticed and actually invited her back the next year for Asia's Song Festival 2018--first Filipino artist who got invited back to that festival back-to-back.

I'd just read your article forwarded to me by my buddy and also a big Mori fan. That was a great article Sound Vapors, that I immediately posted it. Quite frankly I struggled to accept the fact that Mori is one of the best i've heard! Like you I grew up with Donna Summer, one of my all time and saw Whitney in the early 80s. I followed music and concerts through the years, all the way to Gaga & Pink. Great artists. Mori however, is multi-dimensional. She can do it all, whatever genre. I mentioned I was some sort of in denial that somebody from that part of the world who are influenced by various artists (through the internet I'm sure) can be this good. If we talk about some of the greats here, they developed because they are influenced by the culture here, be it Motown or R & B whom they've seen live at some point in their life. NOT SO WITH MORI! She is an embodiment of an artist who developed her skills by simply loving the art that drives her to hone her craft. It was sort of my anniversary being a fan 2 weeks ago, my 3rd year of following her. I mentioned I was in some kind of denial at first, because she came from my place in Cebu. Sometimes, we tend to give too much credit because of pride, having come from your place. But I have listened to her daily and the more I became familiar with her the more I got hooked. After you've listened to the way she dissected every song the more you realized that hey, you haven't heard something like that from other singers! That combination of insane talent, humility, and pure love of music is very unique. Most of the early songs that were reacted were recorded on cell phones, venue were malls or converted barns and you know, she doesn't care! Her performance is the same. When I flew to see her, she was still signing autographs at 1am, flew in 2 days earlier, jet-lagged that she has to sleep in the van on the way to the meet-and-greet (they had her do 2 that day)! Madonna won't come out because the air conditioner is not to her liking! Mori started singing and her voice and tone reverberates on the whole stadium and that's when she's in the zone! I've never seen anything like that. YOu constantly try to remember if you've experienced something similar in the past and you'll come out blank. This one is so special. That's Mori! MOE - E - NATICS This was in Busan, S. Korea when K-Pop was all the Koreans wanted, Mowie was the only Filipino invited and most had no idea who she was....so were very reserved in welcoming her. Following her performance, they wanted her back the following year, and that is when she sang.....Resignation ( a famous Korean song) and she sang the last half in Korean.

No Tommy you're not wrong. ..I agree with you....the crowd was looking at the wrong direction and like you said they may be looking at the wide screen but why when you have a great Live performance there.....that was the worst audience Ive ever seen when they should be going crazy....anyway Morissette was the only participant there at Asia's song festival in Korea...a yearly thing.... that was invited twice to perform.....you may be interested to react to her 2018 performance there.....again two songs back to back.....1st is her original Throwback.....followed by a Korean song cover Resignation...this time around the audience was captivated and I said to myself yes thats how you should respond to a great performance...hope you won't miss this bro.
