@@FlixTwix Two clefs as opposed to one for violin, outrageous amounts of notes in certain pieces that take a fair amount of time to process. With practice and experience Level 6 or 7 pieces become really easy to sightread, but something like Chopin's Etudes, Scherzos, or anything by Liszt will take even a professional a bit of time to process.

Because they are so casual and have a bunch of fun with playing music and running the channel, I sometimes forget that these guys are legit professionals and in no way are the pieces they play *easy.* This is one of the videos where all their hard work and experience really shine through. It's one of those things that looks like you can do it so you try it and you suck because of that difference in skill. I wish there was a second subscribe button :'(
@alyssarain00
@alyssarain00 4 жыл бұрын
@A.H Well I obviously know that they *are* professionals. I don't literally forget it and become surprised whenever they mention it. It's just that they don't show it off all the time. It's fun and casual and they don't constantly try to show off their skill just for the sake of showing off. This is one of their videos that show the more technical side of playing the violin and I just wanted to show my appreciation for their craft. As someone who doesn't play the violin or any other instrument, it's cool to see all that goes into playing the violin on a professional level and what that exactly means.

@@easyteh4getperson they're for middle class parents to put a certificate on their wall and brag to other middle class parents that they are superior because their child has Grade 3 violin and the other child only has Grade 2 😉 in reality it's just a way of creating a framework for the process of learning an instrument, giving students a goal to work towards and an indicator of how far they've progressed. Grade 8 is often a prerequisite for music degrees or teaching courses but the others aren't really 'for' anything except giving yourself motivation to achieve your goals and move on to the next stage.

I know I was a vocalist, and while contemporary music is easier, I knew the lyrics and all of the verses of close to a thousand songs. @@IorekBear92 Well, I'm not going to argue with you about it. I'm sure different singing venues have different criteria, and sometimes the audience doesn't see you, or if you are singing while playing piano it would be easy. I could have used sheet music when recording in the studio, but I sang in choir, as a lead in theater, and with a microphone in front of a band, and in all of those places you really couldn't have a music stand or sheet music.

Since they’re so casual, I also forget that they’ve played at the White House and massive orchestras. Basically, for me, they are so amazing that I forget what it means to be a professional musician.

I've been studying ABRSM's program for years now...To think that the pieces I had to spend months practicing, these guys could just sightread them... I need to practice.

argh, I started violin when I was 5 and played on and off until I was 15 Dx but I hated to practise and only got to grade 2! (the shame) But now 15 years later I am so much more organised and have so much more patience, I am ready to start up again! (also just watched your reacting to progress videos vid and I'm heckin motivated) Wish me luck everyone x'D may do a progress vid for fun!
