I had to lower the volume when the professional opera singer performed. It really shows they use an specific vocal technique to project their voice and be heard without using a microphone. Opera singer are underrated they are so skilled
@anthonydraco7958
@anthonydraco7958 Жыл бұрын
What you’re mentioning is called voice placement. The ringing of sound comes not from yelling but from placing your voice in the correct spot. Your skull have air sinuses where when placed sounds, they resonate. You sing wuth open throat to open up these areas. Lower darker notes resonate deep inside like sphenoid sinus. Brighter notes move toward more forward sinuses like ethmoid sinuses. Brilliant notes goes farther forward and higher from nasal cavity to maxillary sinuses and frontal sinuses. I’m a baritenor and I feel the vibration in my nose and maxilla while my teacher, a soprano, describes the sensation as singing with her eyes, which means she goes as far as maxilla and frontal sinuses.
@Ori0987
@Ori0987 Жыл бұрын
@@anthonydraco7958how do you know where your placement is? Is it just something you figure out after singing for a while?
@anthonydraco7958
@anthonydraco7958 Жыл бұрын
@@Ori0987 you usually don't most of the time. But the first where you can feel it is where you try to make low sound Ooooo and it rolls behind the back of your throat where throat connects the nose, just behind your uvula. The placement will be more forward when you go higher. But first you must learn to sing with open throat. Say Aaaa the way you yawn and feel the air chills the back of your throat, the area described above. Always feel this area open when you sing. Then try to sing higher notes and feel the vibration placed more forward to your nose and maxillary sinuses and keep going higher. You will most likely need someone to tell you when it first happens though so you know that you've just done it correctly so you can replicate it the next time. People around you will know it happens because it echos. The voice projects really well. But you won't. You're already listening to your own voice with your bones. Someone must tell you, then you try to replicate it.

What fascinates me is whenever Brett is singing, you can still see Senna constantly moving her chest and stomach to his voice. I’m not sure if it’s just subconscious or it’s her to way physically express herself when he’s singing (like how someone moves their head to the beat of a song) either way I think it’s cool :)
@juliahillis2068
@juliahillis2068 2 жыл бұрын

I'm a professional cello player, and when my students are playing a piece I've played before, I kind of move/make the facial expressions I make when I play while listening to them. It's definitely subconscious, because when you've memorized a piece, so has your body. The same phenomenon happens when listening to a piece of music you're familiar with. It's like your body pretends that it's on stage.
@LoganWalsh888
@LoganWalsh888 Жыл бұрын
Definitely subconscious. I am a classical vocalist and every time I watch other vocalists or am listening from a neighbouring room; even if I am busy doing my own work I subconsciously start analysing their technique by listening to the sound they’re creating and where the sound is coming from within their body. An hour will pass and I start wondering why my core is so tired and it’s because I have been breathing and positioning my diaphragm with them. It’s a real full body workout and yet still no rock hard abs for me.😂

Actually i wonder how she maneges to sing Alcina at the same time as Carmen. Alcina is for a light lyric soprano and Carmen for a mezzo soprano... Even if the technical is quite good, the 3 sheets were sung with the same technical, whereas you should not sing Haendel as you sing Gounod... as you don't play bach's violin like brahms...

Their goal is to make classical music relevant to the modern generation through fun, humour and simplicity. If you haven't done it yet, I highly recommend you to check their channel (TwoSet Violin). I really love that you pushed yourself do this despite knowing the hardships you would face. The fact that Brett, a professional musician (though not a singer), struggled is really NOT discouraging. It shows that even if you're just starting to sing and sound like quite ridiculous... There's still hope. Because sounding like you have no musical talent when you sing does actually not mean that you have no musical talent. You just may have terrible technique because you have only just started and don't know what you're doing. A singer's voice is an instrument, and it requires practise just like any other instrument. So if you want to learn, you need to practise. (Of course the piece sounded super high for his voice, too. But hey, did anyone spot the moment around 2 minutes when his voice actually did have a pretty nice ring to it for a moment 😄)

Brett did not so bad. He sings as an soprano or mezzo, can not use the chestregister , but he sings most of the notes right.

Well, it kinda helps actually; I remember my vocal coach told me a while ago to raise my arms if the note I was about to sing was too high. (It functioned!) I don't remember the exact reason, but it had to do with the diaphragm :)

This is THE video I used to get a good number of my friends from different phases of life into the TwoSet fandom, this, the Tiger Mom one, Lindsey Stirling one, and oh the Rite of Spring, never forgetting that even if I end up with dementia someday (which unfortunately I'm in risk of given recent neurological conditions I've been suffering from)... I'm kind of relieved this one is still there... I just hope B&E are doing fine and keep doing amaIngly in whatever they decide to pursue... Can't deny I'm sad tho, perhaps grieving even... their videos gave me laughter in the lows of life, hope in times of darkness, and inspiration to keep at things and awaken my creative side, from piano to violin, and even in animation as my first ever animated project was a tribute to them. I'll never forget the journey you guys shared with us. I'll never forget how excited I was the day you two finally saw my animated tribute around 3 yrs after making it, i was giddy with joy, shaky with laughter and so many other emotions as i went showing it around to friends, family, fellow twosetters, it was a dream come true, it felt like everything. I hope you get to read this and realize how much your work over the years have meant to us. Thank you for everything. You will be deeply missed. I just hope this video and the others that stay up won't ever be archived or taken down. Please, let us keep holding on to at least this bit of your work and our lives as well, as im sure many others here like me have felt their lives connected with your content like no other.

This was pretty funny (and serious kudos to Brett for being willing to give this a shot!), but I would love to see a true beginner (or someone who hasn't had formal training but thinks they can sing opera) vs a professional opera singer. My mom's a professional, and some of the technique these singers can do is unbelievably difficult, but amazing to hear. It would be cool to see someone who is a good singer (singing in their range) attempt to sing something like the more technically demanding portions of "Exsultate, Jubilate," followed by someone with years of training doing the same. I know this is primarily a violin channel, but still... it would be cool to see. That's all. :-)
