Nothing against the girl, but she just pretended to "teach", not even choosing a song that Brett's voice could endure. Before i started singing in a choir, i took singing lessons from someone who did the exact thing as this girl: karaoke time, with songs completely out your vocal range (like, i'm a contralto, having a vocal range between 1 low do octave and 1 high do octave, needing falsetto for higher notes). That teacher was so near to ruining my voice forever, but i decided to stop, and after one year i started going to this choir. Our Maestro is literally an angel. She did the same as Zach, and in the choir we are from 5 to 18 years old kids. I found Shakyrah wanting to just show off her singing abilities, but i can say she wasn't great either. I know a lot of 15 years old girls in my choir who would do highly better, and actually teaching something. I got great advices from them. I feel like Brett should've had his lesson with Zach too. That guys is so nice, i would really like to met him.

Zach was absolutely right to start with the basics!!! As an English speaking choir singer though, giving him a German song was cruel and unusual, especially with only 10 minutes to practice. Eddy did very well given the time limit I think. I would really love to see them have a whole hour. Syakirah was really closed-minded and dismissive of technique and of the true elements that it takes to project a quality tone. Due to this rejection of the basics, it was also clearly heard in her singing voice which was really unfortunate. Singing is not only a talent but a learned skill as well. Being able to "naturally" have it all and just magically know how to sing was incredibly offensive to all of the work that so many singers and performers put in. At first I thought it was unfair for Eddy to have to sing a song in a new language, but at least he was given something with notes within his range. I felt bad for Brett's vocal health; his song was even out of his falsetto range, which was just setting him up for failure. I'd be interested to see them both do another session with vocal coaches who will take them through the steps to singing resonantly and healthily. Zach certainly gave it a go, but 10 minutes was not really enough time to go into the specifics when they're also trying to get their head around unfamiliar lyrics and notes. I'd be keen for a 30 minute or even 60 minute crash course in singing! The vocal mechanism is just like any other muscle; it needs training in order to improve control and technique - and just like with any instrument, one needs to p r a c t i c e.

Eddy did a good job learning with how little time he had! So good! I was also so impressed by Brett's voice. It was beautiful. It had a rich and clear tambor. I really hope they revisit this idea with a longer lesson and encouraging, supportive, and knowledgeable instructors who start by teaching fundamentals. As a vocalist, I'd be so thrilled to hear them sing again, and for Brett especially to have another go at it.

@Sonya Castro I could hear him fine. But it's to be expected that he gets a little drown out, since he's not a professional singer & doesn't have proper technique. But for a beginner in a 10min lesson done for entertainment, Eddy was really good.

Zach's lecture was so on point tho. I spent at least 5 years on singing studies to support my role in choir/soloist at church and that's what exactly my teachers would tell me over and over during warm up. That diaphragm breathing, how you make the sound echoes in your head as if it's an empty column, and open your mouth until three fingers could get in are really helpful. Specially if you're singing mass/ecclesiastical songs such as Miserere, Ave Maria, Kyrie, etc. Unfortunately, my teachers really went hard on training. I know it's for the best but having a teacher like Zach would make my passion in singing goes 📈📈

@2treeman4353 жыл бұрын
@@Ignasimp care to share what the inaccuracies in his technique is?
@Ignasimp3 жыл бұрын
@@2treeman435 he has no chestvoice development. His larynx is high and the vocal folds do abduct properly because the thyroaritenoid muscles are underdeveloped. To avoid being so nasal (which happens when the chestvoice is not developed and the larynx is not low enough) he tries to raiee the soft palate which takes away some of the nasality, but it solves nothing, because the voice is still not resonant, why? Because the voice doesn't resonate in the soft pallate, it resonates in the pharynx, specially the laringopharinx and the oropharinx (the nasopharynx is very small, it's also a resonator, but nothing compared to the other two). And the only way to improve resonance is by keeping the vocal folds together when emitting sound which is done by the thyroaritenoid muscles and by lowering the larynx at the same time which makes the laryngopharinx bigger (which creates a bigger resonance chamber). His voice is small and weak, because he lacks both the vocal fold abduction and the lowering of the larynx.

I feel like Brett was at a bit of a disadvantage. The song was SO out of his range and the teaching was kinda all over the place; the choreography took up a decent chunk of time too which took away from the entire point of the video which was singing lol. Zach did an amazing job with Eddy, especially going through all the fundamentals and important stuff to actually improve the singing (I took a bit from that as well). I'd like to see Zach teach Brett lol.

I would love to see Zack teach Brett also! I was really surprised at the song that the girl teacher picked, because it was completely absolutely out of his range.
