I might suggest you want to get a good heavy duty welding shirt, good welding gloves, and some boots, splatter and slag will burn right through them tennis shoes. Take time to always clean the area you wish to weld (keeps the splatter down). Enjoy and welcome to the world of fabrication.

The timing of your videos is great. I just got my chinese welder from YesWelder running yesterday and I'm learning to weld. I had to wire an extension cord into my panel and run it out the window to get 220 to the welder. I keep breaking things off my old bush hog rough cutter. Today I need to finish stick welding the bush hog wheel. I wish I had mig because its awkward having to move a stick closer and I think I'll need a cheap mig machine too.

Howdy Brock! Get yer nose down there closer to your welds son! Ya gotta see what you are doing! Any farther away and you would have been welding one handed 😁 I bought an entry level wire welder for dinking around here on the homestead. I learned to stick weld in Vo-Ag class in high school, but hadn't really touched one since. Like you I have a buddy who is a welder by trade. Thank goodness he is a patient man... Good morning Brock. Anytime that you're welding you should really wear the appropriate PPE. There is a really good KZbin channel called "Making mistakes with Greg" and he basically teaches beginning welders the in's and out's of getting started in welding. I've been an amateur hobbiest welder for the last 50 years and I learn something every time that I watch one of his videos. I have an old Lincoln "Tombstone" stick welder that I've had for 40 years or more and a Power-mate quick fix mig welder that I've had almost as long but it's pretty much at the end of it's life. Recently, I bought a new Hobart Handler 210 MVP. I'll be doing some sheetmetal work on the Falcon this winter and I needed a better welder for the job. A Miller was out of my price range but Hobart is made by Miller so I think that I got the best of both worlds. I've been quiet for a few days so I thought that I'd chime in on this one. While this machine will doTIG, it will only do DC TIG, which means you can only TIG weld steel (TIG welding aluminum requires AC TIG). That's not a criticism of the machine, it's just the limitations of the smaller entry level machines. If there's a spool gun option available you should be able to MIG weld aluminum. You >can< modify some machines to push aluminum wire through the provided MIG assembly, but it's much more likely to jam up around the feed roller mechanism. You also may want to run flux core wire MIG. That would prevent you having to drag a gas bottle around and running out of gas on the weekend, etc. The downside to flux core is that you do have to chip the weld when you're done, much like when using stick welding. Lastly, for you, the welding table your friend has is too low for you. You need one where you can sit or stand at a more natural position. When you're welding on a table (vs under a trailer, inside a pipe, whatever, where you have no choice), posture and range of motion makes a huge difference.

Yea they all have limitations. I have a 5 in 1 machine that has AC and DIC Tig, stick, plasma cutting but it doesn't have MIG. I misunderstood what the machine did and thought I was getting a machine that did all I need but now I know I need another machine for MIG. Also two of those modes are really the same thing, plasma cutting with an internal air compressor and plasma cutting with an external air compressor. I wish one of these Chinese companies could make a machine that literally does it all for like 300$ or 400$. The sad part is I paid a lot more to get a machine that does aluminum but everything I actually need to do is steel.

@@SetitesTechAdventures Even Lincoln's multi-process welder with a $1400+ price tag doesn't have AC TIG capabilities....I just looked as I was curious if the fancy triple priced multi-process units would have the AC feature...nope. I have a Plasma Cutter from VEVOR, I have yet to fire it up, warranty is already expired on it, so if it don't work I've got a ridiculously priced paper weight HAHA!!!

They all "work" what you pay for with name brand is duty cycle, longevity and reparabilty

Most of these cheap units don't have any repair parts available, and who knows how long they last, could be a day, could be decades, or anything in between LOL. Duty cycles on these cheap units isn't great, but many people aren't welding several feet at a time, a few tacks here, and a few inches here and there mainly I think. I have the old $100 Harbor Freight Flux Core MIG welder, the duty cycle is pretty short, and the wait time to start welding again is quite a while, I think like a 1/2 hour or so after it trips the thermal cut-off. It works great, but I did have a project where I was trying to weld long angle iron in place, it took way too long LOL. If I were welding every day I'd definitely buy a Miller or Lincoln, but for the once or twice a year I pickup a MIG gun, the HF special is fine LOL.

Pretty much anything can do 18 gauge, you need to step it up to 3/8” and see if it generates the amps at that voltage that’s needed to penetrate, hint: it can’t. So if it can’t weld something structural on a car or truck chassis then that doesn’t work for me.

for me the cheap auto dark helmets they have tendency of letting too much UV through so your eyes get burnt - may watch and just but a decent helmet like a miller, Lincoln, Hobart, or speed glass

It's great that you review a product like the popular vevor ,but you could have made the video worth watching by going into the settings you used ,where do i set it at to start,( number 1 question),how to hold the gun, are you pushing or pulling the weld, if your making a video aimed at beginners think about what a beginner needs to know, its not just should he buy it, yes or no, and then end the video. Make the video worth watching twice.
