BJJ can feel really intimidating when you first start training. There’s so much to learn, and sometimes it can be hard to know where to put your focus.
I made this video specifically for those of you who are new to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, grappling or MMA. This video should give you a couple of ideas on where to start and what to give your attention to learning in the beginning.
If you’re interested in going deeper, I encourage you to check out www.brandonmc.ninja and pick up any course that grabs your attention!

Does a senior blue belt mean you have stripes and are close to being a purple belt? I don't know much about the belts but I know they give stripes to at least white belts and I assume it is towards them becoming a blue belt. Would this be the same for you except with becoming a purple?

Love the way you explain things with so much detail! Recently started learning an old style Jiu Jitsu and most of your details were missing. Couldn't really get the Americana working f.eks. or my rear naked being too ineffective. Your techniques make a lot of sense to me and I will try them out next week - thanks a lot! :)

The way you pulled the top wristlock tight is the key. Strangling any submission is so important. Strangling a submission just simply means pull out all the space you can before you attempt to submit. It takes a very little energy to squeeze space out. It takes a lot of energy to try to finish a bad submission. I never even take my arm out from under the head. Thank you for the back to basics pointers by the way. Just golden. As I get older my subs get more basic.

The elbow under the chin is prolly the most important point here.... I've taken peoples backs and then started sliding off to the side bc of my opponent defending and the RNC simply doesn't work unless you are squared up with your elbow deep under there.... if you have THAT angle.. it's over... great video man.

The second one I learned was the cross collar choke from guard. And the armbar from guard. Those were my first three. But lapel chokes are my fav.
