As a spaceship, it's designed to keep from being blown apart by internal pressure when it's in space. It's not designed to withstand significant pressure from the outside, like the water deep down in the ocean. The direction of a force on an object and the object's structural integrity are related. It's why you can fold paper without breaking it or squeeze a bicycle tire without it crumbling.

Farnsworth has forgotten more than Rick will ever know. What has Rick invented that can stand up to the hundreds of breakthroughs Farnsworth has created? How do you compare a multiverse portal gun to the Finglonger? Sure, he can turn himself into a pickle, but Farnsworth can turn any dictator's voice into his own with his "Farnsworth" voice modulator! And what about the Sphere-o-Boom? Or the initial designs for literally all robots in the Futurama universe? The Smell-o-scope? Diamondium (not to be confused with Wernstrom-patented Diamondillium)? The Lava Lamp That Kills Everyone Everywhere? There's just no real comparison. It's like talking about Arnold Schwarzenegger vs. the Mythical Hercules. Sure, one's strong, but come on. You can't compete, Sanchez. Come back when you invent a wish-granting French gargoyle and put him through college.

A very odd relationship those two have had. They're each others' oldest friends, they've worked together for decades, they're both insane while being experts in their respective intellectual fields, their bodily functions are disgustingly hilarious, and at one point their physical bodies made horrifically intense love while Fry and Leela were piloting them. I now burden you with the curse of that knowledge forever
