All I can say is I met PE on my 30th birthday which was 16 years ago. I first met their sound man and he was like yo, you need to meet griff. I didn't know what to say as a white kid walking up to griff with every public enemy 12in single. He turned out to be one of the greatest guys I have ever met in hiphop. He went way out of his way and introduced me to every member of PE including the s1w's. He dragged me around with him all night. He is a very good soul. Actually, every member of PE I have interacted with over the years has been incredibly good people. What speaks even more truth is I have heard nothing but incredible stories over the years from other sound guys, venues, and people who were on tour with them. It speaks miles for who PE is and the members of the group. It only makes me respect them even more then I already did. They are a class act.

Yo hip hop was always like that. Og Graf Artists and b-boys were black , Hispanic and white. Some of the best burners on the trains were done by white writers. Mostly the mc was black. Hip hop was way more then mc's

I met flav in 88, chuck d in 2001, and I never got a chance to meet griff. They were all pretty cool. Flav was crazy, we hung out at a La Quinta, Chuck D played our music on his bring the noise radio back before all this stuff. It takes a nation... is one of the best albums, if not the best album in the history of hip hop.

Good interview. Vlad was able to separate between disparaging remarks being made about two particular Jews and being able to interview the subject in a dispassionate light so that the interview is not lost. The point of a good interview is that the subject can behave naturally. The viewer can then make his own conclusions. Great stuff, Vlad.

After Chuck D dismissed Griff at the behest of an outside group it made me, a fan from the first album and a teenager, realize that everything I liked about the group was just a gimmick and an image. There was no fighting the power in fact but capitulation to the power. S1Ws didn't even have real guns... I couldn't find it in my heart to take the music seriously any more. Even the lyrics to Black Steel sound different to me... no one gets put in jail over a draft letter these days...
