okay...I'll be THE FIRST to say,there's 2 sides (possibly 3)to a story. but yeah,I find it believable.. just because Hammer portrays himself a certain way,doesn't mean it's so. and anyone who knows Hip Hop AND Serch knows he's a mouthy fuck...he ain't a punk either. he got his name from 5 percenters. matter of fact THE ONLY part of story I don't believe is,I do think they were dissing him. them cats just didn't think Hammer rolled that deep.
@capricornking5606 жыл бұрын
Exactly, them being from the East made them figure Hammer was just some dancing cornball with no ties to the California underworld...They did figure out that Vanilla Ice was indeed a dancing cornball, but they stepped on a land mine with Hammer.

Da Wolf I agree I remember 3rd base trying to diss vanilla ice because they thought they were the true white rap band lol I thought gass face was horrible,he'll I wasn't much on vanilla ice but if his music was a drug you would by it by the gram lol he was to me strange looking but hadmoreralent 5han 3rdbaseeasily he'll marky mark for with one song.Sad That Hammer even elevated this low talent group of spoiled brat jewishboys act8nghardcore 3rd baseberg! lol! weak minds react violently to words only weak minds !!

@@jamesgross5954 DUDE.... the "Gas Face" was dope... matter of fact, the "Cactus Album" was dope. 3rd Bass WAS popping back then. I was NEVER a fan of Hammer or Vanilla Ice. I got their appeal, but it DEFINITELY wasn't for me. That type of Hip Hop wasn't my cup of coffee. Personally thought it blah.

This is good stuff. Cats need to keep revealing how things really go in the industry. Scare some of these dreamers into getting their education and going after something other than rap stardom. Wish I would've been wiser and not bought into the chase...

wow! mc hammer was a damn monsta. holy crap. This guy had his own cartoon at one time. Wearing parachute pants while doing his thing. That's insane. But you know what? Listening to why this beef started goes to show you how MC's took hip hop serious. It was their lifeblood. Making that album everybody talked about was their cred. If people were saying you were nice and your album was fire (which happened a lot because we are talking about 90's hip hop here), you had the respect of the hood. Love how everybody had their own style and they were claiming they were the best over the other guy. The competition made it great. But MC Hammer? DAMN!!!! But to think about it, it does makes sense now. To wear parachute pants and dance in a video like an backup dancer in a genre (that was filled to the brim with hardcore/ Down South/West Coast G shit/ New York rap) you had to be tough to do it. That's gangsta in itself

I grew up with cats 'in the game', so to speak. You don't have the clout enough to pick a phone up, order a $50,000 hit on someone unless you have done that before and are a straight killer. Hammer was an OG shot-caller - No Question about it!

Right? He's on sum b.s. ... Didn't end with Hammers mom being threatened. Hamm woulda knocked Mike into next fuckin' galaxy. Mike told Hammer not to mess with his money and they traded favors. That's how it works between Oakland insiders. Funny tho they were beefing at an "all in the same gang," recording session!
@dawb862 жыл бұрын
@@MichaelLazorchak Street niggas don't fuck with each other like that in the true sense, bro. Like you said Mike told Hammer, everything's about money with them. I don't know if you from Cali but I'm from the Bay and NorCal (Bay Area) and SoCal (LA) street cats never really fucked with each other much, mainly because the cats in the Bay wouldn't let them bring that ignorant ass repping colors banging shit up here. I wouldn't be surprised if it went either way the story's been told. Mind you, LA commercially/financially back then was the second hugest market in all of hip hop and the gang wars was still on big time. If Hammer got violent or even started loudmouthing it with a lieutenant in a major set, he would've still had to go get money and do business in LA, he would've had that same target on his back like 3rd Bass did...

When I was a kid living in Hawaii (old man was military), we'd go to the probowl every year. All the players would stay at the Hilton so that's were you'd go to get autographs. I think it was 91 or 92, but Deon Sanders was there and he was walking on the beach with another dude that we(all the kids) we're pushing out of the way to get Deon's autograph. My dad took a Polaroid and showed it off at work the next day, turned out that dude we were pushing out of the way was ....M C Hammer. Afterwards, I ended up ambushing Eric Allen trying to sneak out of the back, he was in a hurry but still took the time to talk to me and sign my card, I never forgot that.

I spent the better part of a Saturday morning trying to find a pic or a glimpse of Mike Concepcion with Michael Jackson at the 1990 American Music Awards, but came up short (the show is in full on YT). At 3:55 Serch says MJ won a bunch of awards at the 1990 AMA but according to Wikipedia, he wasn't even nominated (Janet was though). Either Serch got the show/year wrong, or I'm looking at the wrong thing, but something doesn't add up.
