I'm surprised there aren't thousands of comments on the profs presentation. Agroecology and small scale farming together with peri urban farming is the answer to building sustainable cities.

I am from Afghanistan. I have observed firsthand the devastating impacts of monoculture, GMOs, genetic manipulation of animals, and excessive pesticide use on our land and the entire country, compounded by climate change. These practices have robbed us of our traditional agriculture, particularly our local seeds and genetic diversity, leaving people hapless and 99 percent reliant on imports. The excessive use of pesticides has further degraded our soil, polluted water sources, and harmed biodiversity. Now, as a master’s degree student in Environmental Sustainability, I have a deeper understanding of what has been happening to our land and ecosystems.
