I swam there 30 years ago. The water is from an "Aquafer" and very clean. This Aquafer stretches from Milton to Peterborough and would be the 6th Great Lake if it was above ground. The Walmart at Hwy 10 and Bovaird was built on a hole that Brampton Brick made to extract clay to build many houses in the 1970's. When they dug too deep it punctured the Aquafer and rendered the area unusable for clay gathering. Norton Place Park on Queen near Dixie is the same. Thank you for the upload.

Interesting. So there's a whole big aquifer from Milton to Peterborough. That's huge. Where did you read that

It used to be a quarry, where they mined clay for the old brickyards. They filled it with regular water, using hoses, which is why it's gross. I remember, I was there too.

Interesting comment, thanks for sharing that. Is there any maps of it to show the size of it anywhere?

Wikipedia has a good write up on the origins and history of Professor's Lake. It was a sand and gravel quarry for a number of operators over the years. The last owner and the company that did the rehab was Standard Industries a subsidiary of the giant multinational Lafarge.

Peaceful for a nice walk. I have done this many times. I especially liked watching the canoeing. Many people have drowned there. If you can't swim please don't jump into the water or you will end up being there for an eternity... your soul will be.

Yakety Thack Thank You for the info. I live 10 minutes from the Lake. I didn't know as much about the Walmart history. Thanks you for sharing. There's a few ponds and lakes in Brampton and precious wetlands. Brampton was again this week delared the fastest growing city in Canada. I saw pumpkin patches become malls, college and condo towers. It is nice to see Professor's Lake with the birds catching up a few rays before the snow storms.

Biden, Trudeau, and Putin were arrested by a super power invading from outer space. They were allowed to give a 5 minutes speech each before being executed. Biden: I want to talk about how strong the USA is. Trudeau: I want to talk about our democratic government. Putin: I want to be executed before Trudeau gives his speech.
