You don't truly understand the artistry of BJJ until you see a fifty year old man with bad shoulders utterly destroy a young man in his athletic prime.........using nothing but pure technique.

Imagine the amount of "eureka!" moments he had feeling the techniques done at absolute perfection level. You really have to feel Jiu Jitsu like that to truly understand

1:45 is a great counter to when someone bases out wide to avoid your butterfly sweep. Going to have to try that one
@gabe137711 жыл бұрын
@vtasurfers1: I may be wrong but Im prettty sure that sweep is a variation to the "flower sweep". Its a slightly different set up/approach, but same principal of catching your opponent when his weight is off center just enough to windshield wipe him over.

That's the difference with high level Gracie Black Belts and the rest. Marcelo's student's push him and there rolling is more like a match but the Gracie guy's (Are a Gracie or was taught by a Gracie) get much more respect and it's about inches and leverage more. Both are good but the Respect aspect has to be remembered....

It is extremely humbling to roll with someone of his caliber. When you get to be a brown belt, sometimes you forget where you came from or where you really are. You're at the point that a lot of your partners are not tapping you on a regular like they used to. Sometimes it takes rolling with a great to give you the proper perspective.
