Hard agree on the Andre take. It's like the Grammys take every opportunity to reward 3Stacks everytime he moves further away from hip hop. By his own admission, he's a beginner and still learning. He was in my city for the jazzfest and expectedly sold out very quickly. Meanwhile, Shabaka Hutchings (of Sons of Kemet) released a virtuoso work of contemplative, profound flute music, that is WAY more interesting, yet still in the same lane, and both of his performances, in a smaller venue, were not sold out. I think it's really dope that Andre is exploring different music and artistic expression, but it's hip hop that is getting him all this praise and attention. Without his illustrious hip hop career, New Blue Sun would have a small cult following on the internet and that's about it.

As a Jacob Collier fan I was shocked he got nominated for Djesse Vol 4 which track for track is his weakest album. Would be interested to hear your thoughts after a listen through though.
@xamp_exclammark13 күн бұрын
Jacob Collier is an artist that by all accounts i should hate,i think his Moon River cover is horrible and i've never even listened to the original,but idk i kinda like both Djesse vol 3 and vol 4,they're not fantastic or anything but they were decent to me.
@LookingForAName...13 күн бұрын
11:50 Khruanbing for best new artist is crazy 😂 Not only have they been dropping projects for a decade or so, but they didn't even have a breakout year, like Doechii might have had. They've been more popular in the past.

I agree wholeheartedly about the Andre 3k thing, and I’m so disheartened personally that it’s relatively likely to will win best alternative jazz album when so many great projects in that lane released this year. I was kinda excited this year because that category should’ve been a battle between Glasper and Arooj (me rooting for Arooj, Night Reign was the best album nominated for anything this year IMO) but I have a nagging feeling that all of them are going to lose to Andre. AVAA

AVAA, shoutout to the vids in ur office prof. I rlly rlly was hoping that blue lips and dark times would be nominated, a bit disapointed that it didn't happen. I was not a fan of the new eminem album but at least doechii got her place in the nominations
@lorenzo142513 күн бұрын
Frustrating how much higher the bar is for rap to be considered worthwhile. Sabrina carpenter's pretty unserious album nets her four nominations, but yeat's equally unserious album would never in a million years get him nominated. Like "We have to save those spots for the REAL albums, the artists whove turned lowly rap music into actual art". It feels like an ass backwards way of trying to legitimize the genre
@xamp_exclammark13 күн бұрын
I agree with the point you are making but 2093 by Yeat is only somewhat unserious.

Jacob Collier is a multi-instrumentalist jazz/electronic/dub artist who is mostly famous for being an extremely talented performer. He has gained a somewhat large cult following and a significantly larger cult hate mob. Check out a video where he is featured and you'll probably start to understand why. My favorite record of his is "In My Room," his debut album which is largely vocal jazz. His "Djesse" series takes various influences/genres, and Djesse 4 is mostly a pop and electronic album. It's eclectic and interesting but I don't think it's very good.

I hope you’re wrong on album of the year. I bet $700 on Taylor Swift. My thinking is the Grammys are about numbers and popularity. She set so many records with ttpd and it’s way better than Midnights which won last year. As well as being the most popular as she’s ever been. I feel like the Beyonce album seems like an attempt to win as many Grammys as possible more than a real meaningful album that Beyonce actually cares about. It should win some song categories but not album of the year. Taylor on the other hand should win album of the year but not the song categories. Charli had the best album but probably won’t win. And Kalshi has Billie Eilish picked as a huge favorite for some reason. I just really need Taylor to win because I already lost $1000 betting on the election
@drfunkinstein113 күн бұрын
Also betting on Beyonce is paying 4 to 1 on your money right now if you feel good enough to make a bet on her to win.

I root for Houdini and TDOSS. You hate Eminem too much I think - How come Houdini is the worst song on that list in your opinion?! TDOSS got the reaction community lots of bars to breakdown and they did all of the tracks. That alone speaks a lot for the quality of the album.
