He was actually more like Buttercup as a kid. The Rowdyruff Boys are attempted murderers and juvenile delinquents. Little Utonium is a bratty instigator and a prankster, but not evil. I’ll admit that Blossom and Bubbles had their fair share of bratty moments in the OG cartoon, too, and I thought they went into OOC territory in “Moral Decay.” However, Buttercup was the one most inclined to be an instigator, a rebel, and a troublemaker out of the girls, which is a lot like little Utonium here. For the most part, Buttercup’s bratty moments in the OG PPG show were her acting like a relatively normal little kid with behavioral issues, much like little Utonium here. Not evil, but an instigator, a prankster, and a rebel, who doesn’t like to admit when they are wrong, and who rolls to the beat of their own drum by creating mischief for attention and fun, even if it means pushing away others away by doing so. Aside from the fact that these writers didn’t seem to know how to write a Buttercup centric where the she wasn’t being more of a brat than usual. getting punished, and/or suffering terribly, the fact that Buttercup is the most often like the bratty little instigator and prankster Utonium was when he was her age before turning his act around could explain why the Professor tends to be a bit harder on Buttercup when he catches her causing trouble versus her sisters. He loves Buttercup too, and he knows there is good in her. However, he also sees that she is the most likely to cause trouble, instigate, and rebel out of her sisters, which was a lot like who he was when he was Buttercup’s age before he turned himself around and started taking things more seriously in order to become a scientist. He just wants Buttercup to grow up to be the best version of herself.

@@Schoolgirl325 Oh yeah, definitely. The reason why I thought of the Rowdyruff Boys is because the Professor kind of had a Rowdyruff “sound” if you get what I mean. His voice and his laugh and his meanness made me think of Brick, but otherwise, he is definitely nowhere near as bad as them. At first I thought he was around Mitch’s level, but Mitch tormented an animal at one point, implying deeper psychological issues that the Professor isn’t shown to have.

Their was a web comic back in the day in the early 2010’s called Powerpuff Girls Z. Every Cartoon Network character was in the same universe and even a handful of Nickelodeon characters like Zim, Dib, Gaz and Professor Membrane. It was well done for what it was and somehow Jack made it into modern day and was a Gym Teacher. He was the kind of Teacher the girl students swooned over and Buttercup was no exception (it obviously never went anywhere because Jack is a professional and it was just a childish crush) it was constantly implying that Jack is Utonium’s ancestor because when they stood side by side everyone quietly noted how they looked almost the same and wondered if they were actually related. It was a fun web comic while it lasted. Pretty sure the website is dead at this point.

In all honesty, he’s a technological genius, but when it comes to strategy (and French history) he can be an idiot. He made primates hyper intelligent not thinking they would turn on him, turned the Power Puffs into dogs but didn’t try to detain them, gained powers by sympathizing to the professor and then using them to destroy his lab, and tried the dog plan again but not turning the girls into dogs (which was even worse)

If Lex Luthor succeeded in turning the world against Superman, or neutralized Superman in any way, the results would be disastrous, much less the means. And Lois Lane would tell the world, forever tarnishing Lex's public image. If Frieza successfully exterminated all Saiyans, then eventually whomever is born with a higher power level would have absolutely 0 issues in taking his place as ruler of the universe. As opposed to having an army of ever-increasing-in-power Great Ape warriors at his disposal to stop that from ever happening. If Plankton gets the secret formula, he still lacks the brand recognition of the Krusty Krab. Nor would he be making the patties with love, which is Spongebob's own secret.

One thing I like for no reason is that when the professor is an adult he had a very square design with long, straight features. As a kid, he still has some of those sharp features, but he also has some round features making him distinguishable but also look like an actual kid. I just think its great character designing.

Actually I can see why people think the same way Mojo did: the kid with the round chin? His eyes has the same round pupils as the original Professor Utonium, yet the actual child Utonium has weird-looking half circle pupils that Utonium would get in the reboot seasons starting with the movie. This episode made controversial design choice by retconning the potential child Utonium to be so prodigious nobody, while they used the reboot design of the Professor as his canonical child form… This design choice has as much sense as the episode it’s presented: nonsensical and non-canon.

It's always bothered me when past versions of characters were just smaller versions of their adults selves. Like have the writers never been children before? This was still a huge twist, but only because I'm not used to sensible writing. This is what more shows should have done. It's incredibly rare for someone to grow up and never change.

I just saw this scene and love its writing because I don't think I've ever seen a character written like this before, that is, who was a very different person as a child in comparison with today. To have someone never change is unrealistic. In fact, the sentence "people don't change" has always bothered me, because althought it has some truth, it isn't entirely true. In my experience "people don't believe in changing themselves" is far more accurate. How can someone better themselves without change?

When you think about it Mojo Jojo clearly didn't think it through on his plan to stop the professor from creating the ppg because he if had succeeded he would had created a grandfather paradox. In other words he if did succeed it would mean not only would the girls not exist but neither would he meaning he would had unintentionally caused himself to no longer exist as he was created before the PPGs. And obviously Mojo was very naive thinking the young professor knew how to create the girls when this scene takes place before he turned to science.

I like to think Utonium picked on that kid because despite his use of more sophisticated vocabulary, not only was he actually not saying much of anything, but if one got past his vocabulary, they’d just hear some obnoxious opinion from some holier-than-thou kid with his nose all up in the air. And depending on what work they were discussing, that kid may have missed the point of the piece, which is often the case with those who make and share those sorts of criticisms where it sounds like their biases and prejudices are mixed with their need to display their “superiority” to where it can’t help but come out despite them trying hard to sound “objective”.

You know he's not Utonium because he's trying to inject the idea of objective moral and ethics into his analysis. You can live your whole life and experience all the typical social conventions of society without seeing the outliers the novel is probably addressing. Utonium's entire experiment with the Power Puff Girls could be said to a subversive metaphor for his ideal vision of people, but the moral and ethical implications of creating life was never society's place to judge anyway; it's only between himself and his children. This kid is basically applying the message of "Frankenstein" onto all individuals willing to step outside the borders of ethical norms. Utonium's happy relationship with the girls is antithetical to everything this kid is saying.

i just turned 28 last month on the 22 & its still my favorite cn one & always will be. my brother & i r twins & i got the whole series box set 4 our birthday last year! i shouldve bought it when it came out back in 2009. blossoms always been my favorite girl. she was my favorite character when i was little but now its professor. hes such a kick-ass dad & theyre lucky af 2 have one like him. i cant wait 4 the reboot but i just hope craig gets somebody as kick-ass as tom kane 2 play professor & him again. i didnt know tom played him too when i was little & could never tell if him was a guy either cuz of his voice. it sucks that he had 2 retire cuz of his stroke :( i hope hes gonna be ok. i know hes prolly never gonna voice act again but i hope he makes it & recovers. ive been praying 4 him, just did last night & will again 2night. get well soon tom aka professor & him :(
