Hi Katuska, Great job completing your Word MOS. I think that you'll find PowerPoint to be an easier exam. Most of my students who have passed word with an 800 or higher, pass PowerPoint without any issues. This video should cover most of the general topics of the MOS, but you should check out my PowerPoint 2016 playlist for the in-depth how to videos. Hi Tanmay, The test is 50 minutes long and contains about 30-40 tasks that must be completed. I suggest taking no longer than 1 minute per task, then reviewing difficult tasks at the end of the exam.

Just an update: they do ask for sound and more dramatic affects in the transition tab. I took mine and did not pass because I did not apply the curtain transition correctly. It wanted me to put one in between slides 1 and 2. However I know you cant physically put one in between slides.

Hi Abbie, Good to know, thank you for sharing this information. Whenever it says to put a transition between two slides, you choose the 2nd slide. Then apply the transition. It'll show you a preview of what it'll look like. So if it says between slides 1 and 2, choose slide 2, then choose the transition that you want to use. I hope this helps you out.

With your help I managed to pass with a 700/1000 for my Powerpoint 2016 exam. 1) I may have forgotten to click save each time I was done with a task but I did click the submit project button so that should have automatically saved my work for each task inside the exam, right? -Hope that makes sense 2) There were some strange topics that I was not expecting such as : A) Cropping a video to a certain size from the left I think its best to use 2016 version to practice, because even the 2013 version has minor differences that show up on the exam. Anyways, you are a great teacher with a natural gift for teaching and I look forward to more of your videos.

Hey Jay, Congrats on passing your MOS Exam! Make sure you go to certiport.com to view your PDF of your certificate. Yes, each time you click submit, it will save the changes to the presentation and update your score. I haven't seen an MOS test where it asks you to crop a video. I'll have to keep an eye out for that step next time I proctor an exam, thanks for the heads up. Yes, 2016 is definitely the best software to use to study for the MOS, but 2013 is acceptable to a certain degree. It has minor differences, but most of the buttons and processes are the same. Hi Keisha, If the question asks you put add a transition two slides. You'll want to apply the transition to the 2nd slide so that it plays the transitions between slides 1 and 2. Good question. To do this, go to the 2nd slide and click the Transition tab. You'll see a list of available transitions. Choose the transition that it asks for and it'll be applied.

Hi Gabrielle, Bringing objects forward/backward is in the arrange group. You can choose to bring forward/backward or send the object to front or back. Size object ratio is in the bottom right dialog box of the size group. When you open the dialog box, you can click a check box to lock aspect ratio and adjust the picture to a percentage of its original height. I hope this helps you.

Hi TTV FastBooBoo, 638 is very close to passing. You probably only needed to get a couple more tasks correct to pass. I'd recommend studying as much as possible for when you retake the test. Most of my students who get that high of a score pass the exam on their 2nd try. I hope that you will give it another shot.

Hi Gabrielle, If you click File, then on the Info section, choose Protect Presentation. From there, you can remove the checkbox for Personal Information and you'll earn credit on that task. Hi Jaspher, Sure, you could insert an object from Excel by clicking the Insert Tab in PowerPoint, then choosing the Object button. Then you can choose either to submit a chart from a new Excel file, or an existing file. Hopefully this helps you out.

I typically print the certificates for my students, but if you took the test and passed it, you'll have a PDF copy of your certificate on certiport.com at all times. All you'll need to do is log in to your Certiport account (the same as the login for the exam you took) and go to reports and you should see a copy there. What is the use of handouts

Hi Neelam, In PowerPoint, you can create handouts in several formats. A handout page shows the slide with several blank lines next to it. It allows people that are watching the presentation to have a copy of the slide, as well as a place to take notes. You can view your handout options in the View Tab by using the Handout Master button to organize your handouts. I hope this helps you.

Hi Briselda, The problem that you're having is something that can be fixed. I recommend continuing to practice in GMetrix, and try to score perfect on each test in testing mode. Most students struggle with timing, so I recommend completing all tasks on the MOS that you know how to do first, and flag the other ones for the end. This will allow you to maximize your points. Hi Suspekt29, My recommendation is to complete the tasks that you know how to do first. Flag the tasks that you don't know how to do for later. Students who take the exam the first time usually struggle with time management. As long as you work quickly and accurately, you should have enough time.

Hi Sweet, Here are my best tips for passing the exam: 1. Flag the tasks you don't know how to do. You can come back to them later. 2. Work fast but not too fast. You will need to keep a good pace. Be sure to work quickly, but not so quickly that you make spelling errors, or mess up on something you know how to do. 3. Use all of the 50 minutes. Once completing the tasks you know how to do, return to the flagged tasks and do your best to solve them using critical thinking. I hope this helps you. Let me know if you pass your exam!

Hi, I'm glad this video was helpful. So to apply a theme to one slide only (or selected slides) you first need to choose the slide/slides that you want to be changed. The go to the Design Tab and in the Themes group, right-click the Theme that you want the slide to be changed to. Then you choose Apply to Selected Slides. Hey Austin, Sorry to hear you failed it. You probably needed to use the reuse slides option. It takes slides from another PowerPoint and merges them into the current PowerPoint theme.

That looks like like that would have solved the problem! A few of the questions were based off of the slides I didn't know how to merge in. Between that and running out of time and not being able to answer the final two questions (I took way to long trying to figure out how to merge the slides), I still just barely failed - and luckily, the test was offered for free and I may have the ability to retake it on Thursday.

Yeah I think I remember seeing the reuse slides task on the MOS when I took it. You'd be surprised how many students have the same problem as you on the test. The biggest piece of advice I can give to somebody trying the MOS is to flag the problems that you don't know how to do for later. I've seen too many students fail due to trying to figure something out and not finishing the test in time. Best of luck on your test Thursday, let me know how you do.

Hi there! For transitions: under the timing group, is the "duration" option the amount of time the transition style or effect takes place? While the advanced slide,-after feature is the time in between each slide? Is this correct?

Hi Jay, The duration specifies the length of the transition. Let's say you chose the 'Morph' transition and set the duration to 5:00. It would take the morph transition 5 seconds before the next slide would be displayed. The Advance Slide - After actually sets the slide to only display for a specific amount of time before it automatically advances. This feature would be useful for picture slideshows that feature no presenter, since the slide cuts to the next scene after a given time period. Let me know if this makes sense, great question!

Yep, duration is the amount of time for the transition and amount of time is the amount of time that the slide will be displayed.

Hi Akshay, Out of all of the MOS Exams that I proctor and have taken, PowerPoint was the easiest for me. My students also have a very high success rate on PowerPoint compared to the other MOS exams. This may be due to the fact that I save it for the last exam though. I hope this helps.

Hi Muhammad, Unfortunately, I cannot help during the exam. You must pass the test on your own. You'll likely have a proctor in the room that will disqualify you if you have your phone out, so it's best to just learn the material. I hope that you pass.

I did clear my mos word exam, and then tried two times for powerpoint but unfortunately didn't passed both times i got 550 something. i do know the questions but when i click on animation tab there is nothing.

Hi Muhammad, Congratulations passing your Word Exam! 550 is pretty close for PowerPoint. You'll need to focus on animations and making sure that you're completing the tasks correctly in order to get the passing score of 700.
