Yes Amy is in love with Sonic as shown in Sonic X it annoyed Sonic to no end but her love for Sonic makes her nail some incredible feats….Sonic does acknowledge Amy as a very helpful ally and one of his closest friends plus Amy does not obsess over him as much in recent media than she did in the earlier sonic titles. Silver and Blaze are best friends to point out the relationship. Silver is a hedgehog from the future while Blaze is a cat from an alternate dimension and they both have been working to defeat Dr Eggman Nega, Eggman’s ancestor and their arch enemy. Also, keep in mind Silver’s timeline is 200 years after Sonic’s and hasn’t been explored. Omega’s “Team Darkness” line comes from the Sonic Heroes game which is the team with the most difficult stages. Also, you might have skimmed over it but Shadow was a GUN agent after the Shadow the Hedgehog game ended if you didn’t catch that acronym from him.

Someone might have told you already, but Sonic '06 was rushed out the door by Sega before the devs could finish it (since they wanted it out for the 15th anniversary)- which led to it being released with atrocious load times and glitches galore. Because of that, '06 tends to be the go-to comparison for something being "bad". It's a shame, because more and more you'll find people commenting how it could have been one of the greater games of the series, if it had been given the time it needed. And yeah, it is the last time Tails has been playable in a modern Sonic game (he's playable in Mania). Silver's a time traveler who first appeared in '06, as well.
