And like you said, Freedom by Wham! is a Motown song - my old boss at McDonald's STAN use to dance like a Motown star to it - so you brought back such warm memories, love ya man, please do as many George videos as you can. Narada's genius production and the sheer raw talent of both created not only one of THE definitive duets of the 80's, but it also opened my eyes wide to the amazing talent that was George Michael. In essence, it prepared me for the brilliance that was "Faith". Michael HAS to know how much we appreciate and love his body of work, and the man that he was. Another brilliant interview, Professor!

Bowie is smoking, leaning up against the wall backstage, and Michael blows out a song. Everyone looks at each other like "what did we just hear?" Bowie come off the wall with the biggest, most appreciative smile. I wonder how great a demon Michael must have been fighting that the praise of several Greats could not subdue it.

It’s hard to overstate just how massive George Michael was in the UK already, by that time. He’d already branched out and done Careless Whisper (a solo song that he gave Andrew Ridgeley co-writing credits on, just because that’s what George Michael was, a very generous man). So yeah, in the UK it was very much George Michael with Aretha Franklin at the time. And time has been kind to George’s solo stuff, he wrote two or three outstanding albums, and I wasn’t a fan, but Faith and Listen Without Prejudice were incredible. The first time this song was played on Radio One (the UK’s by far biggest radio station at the time), they played it twice, back to back.

I wouldn’t call George Michael exactly a rookie, he had been in the music business for about a decade by the time he started working with Aretha. But Aretha obviously is a veteran

He was a rookie as a solo artist.

My comment is about Narada Michael Walden. A HUGE favorite of mine, which Walden wrote, but wasn't nearly as big of a hit as "I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me)," I think is worthy of mention. That song is "Someone That I Used To Love" by Natalie Cole (#21 in 1980). It is such a personal favorite of mine, and I definitely can relate to it. Take a listen, see if you agree. ☺

My mistrake LOL. Michael Masser wrote the song, but he is definitely in the same league as Narada Michael Walden.

I love this song, though I wasn’t a huge GM fan. This duet worked.

Hey Adam, not too much time today, BUT, great interview! True words of wisdom every preformer should live by- don't judge yourself. Anyhow, this thought actually hit me the other day when you did the piece on Fleetwood Mac. Have you done a show on Stevie Nicks/Don Henley's Leather and Lace?? THAT would be awesome! If it has been done already, I apologize... and I'll definitely go and watch it(in fact, I'm gonna do a quick search when I finish here). As always, thank you, and much love brother, peace!

It’s super tragic. Thank you, Adam, for paying tribute to these legends.
