Thank you so much! I just signed up with a company that provides editable patterns, and allows them to be projected. I wasn't sure how to do this, and your easy tutorials made it a breeze! I used all your links to Amazon, and bought the equipment you recommended. I'm really excited, I've always pinned and hand cut patterns and being able to project seems like it will be a LOT easier!

Heya ! Great subject. Just a note inpassing : even though these litle wireless video dongles devices are often referred to as "chromecast", Chromecast is specifically the name of the one from Google, which uses a proprietary protocol/license for video. Whereas all that's needed for pattern projection like this here is the much cheaper kind of video dongle supporting "Anycast". Anycast doesn't play video as smoothly as a Chromecast as it simply duplicates the display of the source (phone/tablet) in a bruteforce manner, but it is totally enough for pattern projection and costs a fraction of the price (about 10 to 15usd for an Anycast, as opposed to 40 to 60usd for an actual Chromecast if I am not mistaken).

Yes chromecast is the "gooogle" version. The concept still applies, its a dongle that can display the devices screen wirelessly.

@@ProfessorPincushion Absolutely ! I just thought I'd mention it, as I found it to be very confusing at first when researching the topic a little while back (especially since since the cheap but serviceable "Anycast" ones are often mislabeled as "Chromecast", with a fake logo even).

I work at a JoAnns and we just got something like this. It’s called ditto and it’s super expensive. I am still trying to figure out if I want it or not, so thanks for the video.

You may buy those patterns, but you don't control the use of them because they are on the company site. And, you have to pay a monthly fee to access them. Uh, no thanks!!!

Thank Goodness! Such a straight forward approach to setting up projector hardware. Thank you, thank you 🥸 Question. Is there an adjustable extension (short boom) instead of those pieces for the 8” extension to aim the projector down? Recommendations anyone? 🤗🤓😎

You can use a boom to extend further off the vertical stand. You can just search for "light boom extension", "light boom arm". You will see some ideas on how to do it. You will probably need to change out the right angle pivot to something that will hold the boom, then some sort of pivot at the end to hold and angle the projector, and will have to put weight at the end of the boom to balance the weight. You will have to search around to see what you like and if you have the room for it. As for a specific one, I have not used them so I don't have a recommendation sorry.

I'm more curious what kind of program this uses.

Hello - It's a display, nothing more nothing less. It doesn't use any program. It can either be setup as a display for a computer or tablet or phone (using either the hdmi or a wireless dongle) hence displaying anything that a computer or phone can display ; or, it can read files directly from USB. That means that you can either display a pattern directly from a drafting software ; but much more likely, display a PDF or an image. Displaying from a computer (as opposed to displaying from a phone or using the built-in reader) is much preferable though, because you need accurate image zoom control to project the pattern exactly at the correct scale. Whereas the built-in multimedia viewers on this kind of device (reading directly from USB) tend to have rather clunky zoom controls. But of course it's always possible to move the projector away/closer to the wall to adjust the scale, too.

The approach we are taking in the future videos in this series is what is on the computers screen will be sent to the projector via an HDMI cable or Chromecast. Then we will use adobe acrobat reader to display the "pattern" that was purchased. The pattern purchased needs to be the full pattern and or one that is "projector ready".

According to the Amazon listing details, this projector's minimum throw distance is 2 meters?
@ProfessorPincushion
@ProfessorPincushion Жыл бұрын
On this page is my throw distances I was able to get the image in focus. www.professorpincushion.com/professorpincushion/projection-pattern-sewing-equipment-setup/ so I was able to get 50 inches to work. a throw distance of 66-72" I was able to cover my whole cutting mat.
