I think this is the first time in a few months during my project work that I've googled something so specific as 'how to apply an applique' and actually found a comprehensive answer on the first result. Thank you! Really!

UGHHHHH You don't understand how much you've saved my life. You spoke very clearly & made this seem sooo much easier than I expected. Im currently working on a gown and the entire bodice consists of about 15 appliqués. Yes its gonna be time consuming but the process of applying them is fairly easy. You're seriously a God send! Thank You!

Just yesterday, I was looking at the lace trim on the bottom of a wedding dress and wondered how they made it look so good. Now I know! I can't tell you just how valuable your videos have been to me. I've watched them all and I know that my sewing has improved greatly from them. You explain and illustrate everything very clearly. You make it easy to understand, for us beginners. Thank you, Professor Pincushion!

Thank you for your tutorial know sharing your knowledge! I am going to attempt to make my own wedding dress and knowledge is truly wealth!!

Alyssa Soriano congrats!! I am not sure of your skill level, but surely you are not a total beginner if you are attempting something like a wedding dress. anyway I was just wanting to let you in on a site I came across recently. it is flamencodressmaking.com the owner Anne has some videos and patterns that may be of use to you. yes it is a dancing dress site, but can be very fancy with the correct materials. first all of her patterns include princess seams and she has a video showing you how to alter them to get the perfect fit. next she has special sleeve patterns much like what was used in the centuries previous to ours. they allow you to dance and move without your entire dress moving. she also shows you how to make the perfect flounce ruffles and how to calculate how much fabric you need for them. anyway it is a wonderful site, and I bet someone making a wedding gown could benefit from it. please excuse poor punctuation and grammar, my phone is a pain to type on.

I’m trying to sew 3D floral lace appliqué on the train of my wedding dress. Should I use silk thread or clear?
@mariaocampo24793 жыл бұрын
Instead of silk for thread is it alright if I used invisible thread? It’s clear that’s all I have....

What color should I be using for my thread - should it be the same color as my fabric or should it be the same color of the applique?

This video couldn't have come at a better time. The other day, my husband saw a tank top with a Lace Crochet of a skull covering the top part of the back of the shirt. I would love to be able to do something like that or your Lace Applique of an Owl. Do you have any ideas for this? Thank you.
@ProfessorPincushion10 жыл бұрын
If you're looking for interesting lace appliques, check etsy. I know they have both owls and skulls. here' a quick search for lace applique owls: www.etsy.com/search/?q=lace%20applique%20owl&order=most_relevant

sometimes handsewing is the neatest and best way to go, especially when it comes to embellished and delicate appliques. If you're sewing something a little more basic, and want to use the machine, you can check out this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3aYo6upeslge8k I go over making a fabric applique but the end of the video is machine sewing it on.

Hi badly need your help. Can I put applique on my satin gown? Applique directly to satin?
@ProfessorPincushion5 жыл бұрын
sure. just hand stitch carefully. Satin is unforgiving so if you make a mistake, it's hard to fix. Also, it frays a lot! So keep the fray check handy.

When sewing an applique of one color to fabric of a different color, which color thread do you choose? The color of the applique or the color of the fabric? Or - does it matter?

for me, I could pick a thread color based on the applique and not on the fabric.

Hi! I LOVE your videos! It has saved me on sooooo many projects! But I have a question, when handing sewing a beaded lace appliqué to power mesh that has a 4 way stretch, do you use the same stitching technique or different to allow the appliqué to stretch with the fabric. Thank you in advance!
@ProfessorPincushion7 жыл бұрын
If the applique already has some stretch it should still be able to have some give after it's sewn on.

It's called Fray Check and you should be able to find it in the notions department at a local fabric store. www.sewingpartsonline.com/dritz-fray-check.aspx?gclid=CIG34e6yz74CFU1afgod8VQApQ

Thank you so much...it's like a glue!!!in tailoring where I worked we used water diluted with vinyl glue, the glue is called VINAVIL, very cheap in price and is found in various formats, then we applied on the edges with a brush .... if you want you can try ... :) God bless you for your videos .. if you continue in the wake of tailoring techniques and high fashion, it makes everything more interesting
