Tapeworm anchor itself on the wall of intestine with the help of fours suckers and two rings of hooks. It absorbs all the nutrients from the food. It may cause death by starvation and malnourishment. Tapeworm can also migrate to other parts of body such as brain, liver and muscles where it can create numbers of life-threatening events.
Most of tapeworm infections are asymptomatic. Occasional symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, weight-loss, enteritis. Parts of warm segments are observed in stool examination.
Most tapeworm infections are easily treated and cured with medications. In most cases, tapeworm infection is not responsible for abdominal pain and weight loss. .
