Your idea of a "Hero" is why I love D&D. The villains of my campaign are the ones that wish to control the future, trust no one, and try to do it all by themselves. And I love seeing the heroes in the games I run fight together for that collective hope for a better tommorrow.

I haven't watched this yet, but its an interesting video topic. The power of trust, especially in anime, is understated. How does Naruto conquer hatred? With trust and honesty. How does Emma conquer (spoilers here)? With trust and honesty. Trust is the most important ingrediant in a relationship. I manage about 100K in marketing services per month and get to view million dollar deals rather regularly. The truth is still the same. "People do business with who they know" Millions of dollars exchange hands everyday because of three reasons. 1.) I know you. 2.) I like you. 3.) I trust you.

Oh I loved this! As someone who LARPS a lot, it's fun to apply this sort of thought process to others regarding trust and self sacrifice and heroism.

Trust is a weird thing to me. Its been used against me in many different situations. I try not to give too many people that trust, because it's been used to manipulate me so many times, but I always end up giving them that advantage over me. Tpn really made me realize some of that trust can be used for good, sometimes it's good to trust someone. In Emma's case, she trusts her siblings completely. I was prepared the whole series for that to be used against her, for her to get hurt by them--but that didn't really happen (save for ray being a traitor). It felt strange to me, because I've seeing people's trust get betrayed in media for my whole life. I absolutely loved Tpn, and I'm glad you covered trust in it. Amazing video!!

Yes ray is the best. And while emma is honestly great playing along in the sacrifice to prepsre the rest. Rays and normans ideas were needed. And why emma needs someone like them to be careful too.

I enjoy watching your anime video's. What I notice is that you review the more serious anime series. For some reason amongst anime viewers, including me, the more serious anime really interest me. Anime is at it's best when it get's deep man! You know what I'm saying!? Hunter x Hunter and Vivys song are some of my favorites. Please do a review of Vivys song, some say it is under rated. It is a certified gem in my eyes, complex themes make's this anime one of the most complex anime's that I have seen. Too bad the purely comedy anime keeps getting high ratings. I like watching something of more substance. Better enjoy the more complex anime, by the 2030's we'll be getting just cute girl's doing cuter, or rather stupid things. So enjoy this era of anime man, before it get's tamed by regulations and standards and practices.

i really do hate the trope of doing one good thing to make up for all the bad, even at the cost of the character's life. It's cheap and faceless; just another way to run away from consequences. I have a very harsh view of such things, both in stories and in real life; too often people discount just how awful they've been by thinking they can smooth things over with some shallow action and/or meaningless apology.

This is definitely one of those shows where as good as it might get on its own at certain points, it as a whole ends up falling disastrously short of the source material. Especially when it gets to season two content. Whoever was in charge of decisions like that (my guess: the producers for that season, Aniplex and/or Shueisha) royally screwed up. The manga is 20 volumes brimming with depth; taking the time to lay that out well would mean giving it like ~36 total episodes to work with. Season one's 12 eps was solid for that section for the story's content; season 2 tried to fit a wider-ranging amount and timeline of info into one less episode somehow, so we got not just missing arcs and all that's associated with it, but a mutilated pace. Given either a second season of ~ double the length (so instead of just 11 episodes, somewhere between 20-26) or just a third season at the same 11-12 episode run, they'd actually have had time to delve into the stuff which was cut or rushed through and come away with a far better and beloved product. On the topic of trust, outcomes like this are what make fans and consumers have none in the companies handling adaptations.
