Thanks men! Im from south america and I can understand your tutorial very well. I spent all day watching profile builder tutorials in spanish and those were a waste of time jeje

Thanks for posting PB3 how to. So many great improvements it's amazing. Here's one I found super handy: I just discovered the secret for the PB3 stock chain barrier assembly using spans to sag the chains. Add the span as a sub assembly and the wonder of PB3's span and sag kicks in as expected. I've used it to create an outdoor string light sub assembly that now hangs between anchor components (designed to be hidden when not needed, but required for the span/sag feature to work it appears). I'll try to post it in the 3D ware house for the community to enjoy, once it's out of "beta" testing. It's enscape ready, with lights and emissive bulb surfaces for rendering.

Is there any way to make that cross scale up to fill in entire sections while keeping the dimensions of its parts? So say if cross is made out of 40x40mm boards, let it resize the cross but keep the boards at 40x40mm. Thanks!

Holy lifton Clifton, that's complicated. Throughout I'm thinking, "I can do all this with Sketchup as it is", what's the pay off for spending so much time to set up this plugin? Building, trusses and fences quickly? Otherwise, you are setting the bar now, for these vignettes. This level is what we expect always now.

Refuso Againo it's taking time because he is explaining the process. You can do this in couple of seconds. You can no way get it faster in sketchup alone.

Was about to post something like this - I could have created this assembly in about 30 seconds, then making adjustments takes little to no time at all. Once you learn the process, setting up assemblies is really fast

That's where you need to do a little calculation. Take wainscoting for example (see 3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model/ea8b94a0-0684-476f-ac6b-81a423749087/wainscot-or-panelling-props ), try wainscoting a room manually in SU and estimate the time taken. Then take advantage of the free trial period to do the same thing using Profile Builder. The difference between the two, multiplied by say $20/h times the estimated use over two years (accepted payback period) should be better than the cost of Profile Builder. For me, I would have to pay the hobbyist price of $69, save an hour for every room wainscoted, fence balcony railing, staircase banister, property border built etc etc, for at least 69 hours over 2 years. Feasible for most one-man outfits, I think.

So the spans are one dimensional. You drag them in only one direction. Can you do 2d spans. Dragging both the x and z axis for eg. My use case is creating wall tiles which have to span in 2 dimensions
@Thesketchupessentials6 жыл бұрын
Wouldn't you just set up the initial row of profiles to a certain height, the use the spans like normal? There's not going to be a way to drag up, then across that I'm aware of...

Made the assembly.... how do you determine which side of the assembly it snaps to a line? I have made a stair support which is quite wide and I cannot make it "start" correct it's like it should have been mirrored to work. Is there a trick, please?
@Thesketchupessentials5 жыл бұрын
You could adjust the left/right offset of the object by the width of your assembly...
@HelleRita5 жыл бұрын
oii, there are A LOT of parts. Would be great if it was possible to adjust in one go :-) also whether or not to snap top or bottom, like in "profiles"....

uhh, I am a newbie. Made an assembly in PB3. Later to find out it's too long on the finished SU drawing. How do I make it shorter (perhaps a silly question, but I don't know how to) :-)
@Thesketchupessentials5 жыл бұрын
Depends on what's driving the length - if it's just the path, you can adjust the path in path mode - kzbin.info/www/bejne/sILdcmlqoLqbbrc

@@Thesketchupessentials Ahh, it's made of components and I can't modify path (I think) Also another thing I can't figure out: how do I avoid parts overlapping at the end? (please :-)

does this software requires internet??

I think it might to do the initial setup, but not for everyday use...

Yes I've noticed a tendency amongst plugin developers to build in internet -connection-dependency. It's fine for professionals who are always connected to the internet at the office, but a pain for those that infrequently connect such as myself. I also totally avoid subscription as opposed to one-time purchases because I need to buy software that suites ME, not the developer.
@Thesketchupessentials6 жыл бұрын
I don't mind if it's just a single connection to authenticate, but the ones that require constant internet access are really annoying to me, since I'm on rural internet that isn't very fast. Unreal Engine is the worst - every time they update the Engine, the update files are Gigs and Gigs and they don't support remote downloading very well. There are workarounds, but still...
