Profile of a surface is used when you have a curved surface and you want to make sure that every point on that surface falls within a specific tolerance range. The tolerance range called out in the Feature Control Frame can be either bilateral or unilateral. In this video, we discuss the difference between a bilateral and unilateral tolerance zone and how to call these out on the drawing.

Dear Brandon, many techs mentioned for profile of surface, need to double the value of measured deepest point. How this Asme is different from that. Please guide. Thanks

i have this right now. | Profile | .060 (U) .050 | . Do this mean I shouldn't see anything under -.010 ? and anything over +.040 ? Thanks.

Thanks for your question! The value AFTER the unequally disposed symbol means the portion of the total tolerance value that exists outside of the material. For your example this means .050 tolerance exists outside the part and .010 tolerance exists inside of the part. Check out this page for more visual directly related to this modifier. www.gdandtbasics.com/unequally-disposed-profile
