Way down in little old New Zealand back in the 50's, my father played Hank Snow records all the time. I grew up loving his music. I'm 73 now and nothing has changed.....Rest in Peace Hank.

My dad had all his records, and played his music. Dad bought a 1955 Martin D-28 that he gave to me on my 16th birthday in 1971. Unfortunately, the guitar didn't make the journey with me. It was smashed by Eastern Airlines in a baggage compartment. Even though I was 19 years old, and in the Navy then, I cried like a baby. I was sick. Anyway, dad and me, and then my brother would play his music at get-togethers. Dad eventually bought a D-35, a D-35-12 string, and then the ultimate D-45 that's still in the family.

HIS VOICE WAS SO UNIQUE, SO BEAUTIFUL. HE WILL ALWAYS BE ONE OF, IF NOT THE MOST PLEASING VOICE IN SONG . I DON'T EVEN HAVE TO HEAR HIS NAME.....IT'S HIS UNIQUE SINGING VOICE THAT I HEAR. In1960, I was an English man, working in an Auto trim shop in Toronto with two guys from Nova Scotia. They had a cassette of Hank Snow, that they played at least two times every day. An introduction to country music, which I’m so thankful for.

What a great video detailing Hank's life. And the TV News tributes at his passing. I have the book and what an interesting read for any Hank Snow fans. Not mentioned in the book is that Hank lived with my ex's family in New Brunswick when he got the job playing 1/2 hour daily for 2 years on CKNB in Campbleton. The story goes that uncles John & Charlie McGarvie introduced Hank to station manager Stan Chapman. Two year old Jimmie lived in Liverpool at the time. I have a photo of Hank with John & Charlie outside their house. A treasured possession of mine.

Just saw the Elvis movie. It was good but he was portrayed poorly by a director who clearly didn't have a decent knowledge for the music of Elviss time. Snow was an energetic performer and a ground breaker in country music. Not some throw away hokey carnival act.
