Irene was phenomenal in the 80's, an everlasting inspiration. She made us New Yorkers proud as hell when we were teens and in our early twenties when Fame came out. I remember Fame being explosive along with Saturday Night Fever. It was a good time for young New Yorkers,, and we danced our asses off every Friday and Saturday night in the clubs.Thank you for giving us so much life through your talents Irene Cara. In the early 1980s I (born 1975) lived in Connecticut where everything from NYC hit us literally over night. Irene Cara was practically worshipped in the early 1980s. I watched Sparkle and Fame on VHS and loved'em. Irene Cara was warm, modest, and appreciative. Today's Pop stars are narcissistic and promote sociopathy, especially the rappers.
