The LGU should provide free garbage containers to poor residents, in public establishments and on the side of the streets , regular collections and disposal of garbage should be implemented. Teaching the residents and tourists to segregate their garbage is an easy tasks but how to manage and dispose garbage is a LGU job. In the Philippines you can't see a single garbage container on the street or public /private establishment where you can put your teash, so people are just throwing it on the streets. People can't keep filing up their trash in their homes and properties, government has to regularly collect it and dispose it. Geeehzz, the Mayor can't figure this out?

It is the Filipino citizens of Surigao that are the problem about trash...most do not even have the common courtesy or respect for their own country to clean up after themselves and dispose of their trash in an environmentally safe way which is just common sense....The same thing happened to Boracay will happen to Surigao unless the native population learns how to recycle and dispose of their trash correctly and puts economics in the latter part of this equation....this is exactly what happened in the Caribbean when I lived there so sad and unnecessary....
