Martha is a beautiful, vibrant woman, and very classy in her responses. She didn’t trash the “model” video substitute singer. In fact, she confirmed her singing ability. When asked why that lady’s vocals weren’t used, Martha replied she didn’t know. A lesser diva would have boasted of the superiority of her own vocal instrument. Martha is too smart for that nonsense.

Met her at the Arizona Mills Mall back in late 2000s She was signing autographs and took pictures with a few folks. After the event myself and the two others I was with were talking about how amazing she was. Turned out she was standing behind us listening and looked down and said "Babies I'm highly over rated honestly and laughed". A couple minutes later she came back with a tray of food and asked to join us. The answer was simple and it was the best 45 minutes of our life. She didn't talk about herself at all just asked about us and our families. She left us with hugs and smiles. Class, talent, etc. Simple enough!

C+C Music Factory added Martha to the roster after the whole debacle but it didn't save the group. Her lawsuit happened around the time Milli Vanilli's career crashed and burned and Paula Abdul was being accused of lip-syncing someone else's vocals. Milli Vanilli might be extreme but movies and albums have been uncrediting artists for years. Marni Nixon is probably the best example of a singer who sung so many well-known songs, never credited and was never a household name. I'm glad Martha Walsh was a part of an effort to make it all more transparent.

It's unfortunate that the industry Executives did not want to present Martha in the visuals. Martha's body is responsible for creating that distinct voice. The same thing was done to Lolita Halloway . Her song, " Love Sensation " was sampled by Black Box, but the changed the title of the song and paired her vocals with a model lip-synching to it . That's because from the 80's-90's, you had to be THIN and beautiful to be accepted . That's what singer Amy Wilson had to go through too . Her music label and even her bandmates kept pressuring her to lose weight, even to the point of literally relegating her to shadows in her music videos in the 80's . It didn't matter that all of these women were and still are beautiful . If you were obese, you were OBSOLETE, which is ridiculous . That's 1 good thing about how times have changed since then .
