Great to watch and nice photos but just a list of famous pigeon fanciers names. What is a strain - no such thing except maybe the original Janssen and Jan Aarden, maybe Kittels. The rest all just had great birds but no inbred strains - Johan Marais Johannesburg South Africa.

Here in the States, we have a few very reputable pure lines, like those of David Clausing and Rick Nanez's work around Iron Clad, but in general, like you say, there are not many true lines.

BLACK pigeons are the old "KRAUTHS" line from europe not south african at all. And its pronounced "STAF VAN REET" , most are down fron the old jansen brothers lines anyway

You would be hard pressed to find many Trentons racing today. Most of them are now practically Fancy Pigeons no longer being flown. This is to the extent that the line is no longer even considered a factor in today's racing sport. In reality, the Jannsens are probably the most successful line in history. Most of the other lines mentioned in the video have Jannsens in their background and in reality, are not fixed lines as the European breeders utilize extensive outcrossing.

A very platonic with mistakes ranking, ex. comparing Janssen with Aarden in the same distance. A Jannssen will never ever perform 1,200km as an Aarden do without problems! A shame to mention Jos Thone and not to mention Bricoux, van der Wegen or van Wanroy!

Interesting, they all good strains, families, not sure if they suppose to be in order or not, if so I would say it is a matter of opinion, impossible to prove. Some strains are better at shorter distances and some longer distances . Most champions today are total out crosses, one just has to look at the pedigrees of all the winning birds in the one loft races all over the world there are no so called pure strains. I myself don't believe in pure strains. Only 2 kinds of pigeons bad pigeons and good pigeons. Unlike dogs no one can look at a pigeon and say with certainty what strain it is, a pigeon is a pigeon, in fact the racing pigeon is man made from different kinds of other pigeons which were bred together to make the racing homer pigeon. My opinion forget about strains, best to best and forget the rest.. the pigeons which have done the best for me over the years isn't mentioned there, predominantly Houben and Clausing and the South African strain, the Putteries. I say predominantly because they not pure bred but have a blend of other good pigeons.
