It is SO good to hear the reality instead of hearing how someone just made $15,000 last month which for me does not seem reachable. Reselling is a tough job and not fun all the time. The only fun for me is sourcing and everything else takes self discipline which is hard sometimes. I do this "part time" while working a full time job and it's tough to want to list every night after working an 8 hrs day. Thank you for the truth talk; it's refreshing to hear!

The overwhelming majority of these KZbinr resellers are just that; they're KZbinRS (first and foremost) who make content about reselling, not resellers who also make content. Chris Lin (Daily Refinement) says that according to his research, 99.3% of resellers or more don't make enough to live on. That's a lot of people. If you can sell just 10 items a day on a consistent basis, that puts you in the top 1% of resellers. That's a stark contrast to the info we get from social media. Also important to keep in mind is that the gap between good, great and amazing resellers is massive. I resell full time as my primary source of income and have been doing it online for 5 years. I literally have very little leisure or life outside of reselling. I'm constantly working to improve because the market is highly competitive. More and more resellers are starting every day as the economy worsens, and honestly if you're not willing or able to work 80 hour weeks until you learn enough to be stable, you'll probably not be competitive enough. I'm aware that there are other resellers like me who work 80, 90 or 100 hours a week and that's my competition. If you consider that there are people like me who don't waste time making content or doing other things and ONLY improve their business, you'll understand why the top 1% of resellers get 90%+ of all the sales.

END. I greatly appreciated this video Drew. We as sellers don't really show the behind the scenes of our businesses all too often . A lot of us are quick to show the success via the big sales, the big scores, etc. But there is a lot more to it than what we show on YT. The viewers don't see the packing and shipping, the amount of money we have to spend on our businesses via taxes, shipping supplies, gasoline, etc. We portray this business as easy and fun, and while it is for those of us who have done it long enough, it is a lot of work and can be stressful at times like any other job.

Yeah. The other day I watched a 'what sold.' I have 3 of those identical items in my store. Same sizes and colors, great photographs, slightly lower prices. Seeing those items sold when mine have no views makes me wonder, and it's depressing. Just have to be patient and really just check out sell-through rates on my own. Things change so quickly in the markets. One day an item is in, the next it's out! Heidi was right.

Great content. A lot of KZbinrs are just entertaining and that's it. I listen to it while working for entertainment and motivation. Yesterday, I found a channel from a guy claiming to list 250 a day and ship "at least" a hundred a day. By himself. Yet, he didnt own a thermal printer or even know what they're called. His brand knowledge was subpar and his "pickups" were highly oversaturated, 1-5% STR items. The level of disrespect this type of person gives to real resellers is just disgusting to me. They only care about selling a dream and promoting their fake lifestyle. I appreciate your legitimacy and candidness. Keep up the amazing work.

Great video!!! Facts! I truly think that every one of us resellers, who are not in the top 20% of the internet or individual platforms would be helped a great deal by hearing from those aforementioned resellers that they have a wife who does these things everyday, or a friend, or a huge support group, or children in the home that handle photos, or packing, etc. It is extremely difficult trying to do this all by yourself, for a living & manage all other aspects of life. Knowing how much help the very successful ones have/get would certainly go a long way in helping with the feelings of gloom, stress, & despair that come along with trying to do this all alone. Just my opinion. Sorry 'bout the ramble but, this video touched on something for me. Continued happiness & success to all of you out there. Thank you for the content Drew

I subscribed during this video and look forward to more. I had no idea what I was getting into when I started this venture 6 months ago. I don’t get to clock in and clock out. I don’t get to schedule my day like daily refinement suggests. My partner and I have 5 kids, 4 at home, and I work a separate part time job. I’m old and have shoulder problems and a day at the racks or the bins leaves me exhausted and hurting (but still my second favorite part after the cha-chings!) I’m already intrinsically motived to grind-and so much content is about how to grind harder. And I do appreciate the informative content. But yeah, I’d like to be involved in more honest discussion.

Ive liked listening to tony robbins, jordan peterson while I list to get a mix of content for work but also working on myself. The podcast style is fav for me because I dont need to see it when I do my photos. I like interviews too Caleb Sells has done some good ones. Its been interesting seeing interviews of 2 different areas because even if its not the same some concepts or ideas will work for you. Theo Von interviews as an example. Maybe you can take the mr. robbins neighborhood approach people think its all for kids but being by yourself mostly solo work just being seen or relate to something. It’s definitely hard out here lately! I’ve seen a few KZbin content resellers try to link it to ebay’s updates or eBay issues, and others link it to the economy and it being an election year. At first I was noticing slow downs right after every update but talking with friends and family it’s more likely the economy. Lately I’ve been recommending eBay to “normies” and have gotten them to utilize eBay before anything else. I’ve received feedback that some sellers stink, but we all knew that’s an issue, and it always will be, but I’ve offered to take a few minutes to evaluate stores/sellers and give people a go or no go before purchases. I’ve also noticed some sellers tanking average selling price of some things. I used to hate that but I definitely understand it, because as long as they are making a profit they are comfortable with, it makes sense even if it does hurt item prices in the end. It always evens out eventually I think. Now would be a great time/opportunity to do buy outs or bulk purchases if you have the capital and/or build a relationship with someone who does bulk sales or wholesale or whatnot. Great video Drew!

Thanks for this video, as a full time reseller on eBay it has been a struggle lately. I think I am doing everything right but my sales are slumping, and seeing these "Gurus" talking about how easy it is and how much their business is booming is really discouraging to be honest (especially when you sell in the same niche as them). I think it is a mixture of the economy and the youtube gurus convincing people that reselling is easy, and creating a saturated market of new sellers who want to give it a go. How do I compete with these new sellers who probably work at least part time who can afford to sell the same items at a fraction of the price because they are just reselling for "fun" and can afford to take way less of a profit margin? It is incredible frustrating, and I think these "gurus" dont know the negative impact they are having (or maybe they do and just don't care because they want the ad revenue and views) Anyway, rant over.

I think the fancy mailers are only worth it for people with unique personal businesses....but if you're a reseller of everything like I am I really don't rely on people returning to my store for the same thing.

Something is up with clothing sales on ebay.

Yes.... everyone and their mother is selling it. Prices are dropping and competition is fierce.

Get some help from a local cpa or reach out to @notyourdadscpa on Instagram that’s who I use for taxes!

I look at the loneliness factor as a trade off to be able to do whatever I want whenever I want. I sell about 15k per month on eBay and it only takes me 4-5 hours a day. I have so much free time with my family it’s not even funny and I have more than enough money. As far as I am concerned I am as rich as I want to be.

Very true! I don’t mind the “loneliness” aspect as a trade for having freedom to do whatever I want and when I want it! Thanks for watching
