Great video. I just purchased my first A1X , and can say, there is no comparison in the build quality and quality of light as compared to the cheaper, similar flash made another manufacturer, I was not expecting that. The A1X is not a purchase, it’s an investment in my business and worth every penny.

Nice review. I don't own one Profoto light yet, but I have rented them, and that's one other plus about the Profoto line worth mentioning.. They are available for rent at photo rental houses in major cities around the world. And whether you own one or two lights and need another one or two for a shoot, you can rent them and they will work seamlessly with all other Profoto lights and gear. And if you don't own any you can rent just about any Profoto light made as well as light modifiers.

In fact I always check for your new video whenever I open KZbin app. This video was very helpful for me to understand how the light plays it's role in photography rather than the product specifications. Its a different way of presenting a product without the direct presentation. Thank you for your wonderful creations.. Keep going on..

I really like your presentation and storytelling. Excellent. Mind you, Ws is not plural of Watt, but short for another unit called Watt.seconds. To prevent this confusion, some manufacturers replace Ws by J as they are the same. Ws is like kWh a unit of energy consumption. Here it says nothing about light output as it just reports energy consumed in one flash. Watt as energy of potential power is defined as W=Ws/s. Thus, 76 Ws in 1/1000 second gives 76 / 1/1000 = 76000 Watt. Which explains why a flash of 76 Ws is so much more powerful than a lamp of 76 W. For a photographer, for comparison, we need to look at a reference flash angle of e.g. compared to a 35mm FF lens, the ISO and matching guide number. Profoto gives the guide number for their studio kit for a specific reflector which is a good indication. You will see that the difference between a 1000 Ws studio flash and a 76 Ws speedlight actually is a couple F-stops only. Or, with two speedlights in one softbox, sufficient Amps for speedy repeat flashes, you have a lot of options compared to a high powered (portable) studio flash.

Really great stuff sir. I own two A1s and they are awesome lights. The 75ws is misleading IMO. Previously, I used Godox ad200s (also very good lights) and my A1 (full zoom) at full power measured the same as my ad200 (w round head) at full power, I was very surprised. If you compare the A1 to Godox it seems incredibly expensive but if you compare it to a flagship Nikon or Canon it’s not that bad. The A1 comes with three very useful modifiers, a modeling light, a great battery and awesome recycle speed. By the time you add three modifiers to a SB-5000 (that can’t radio trigger other lights) I believe you would be close to the A1 price.

Profoto A1 - $1000 Ad200 - $300
@robertaltman2225 жыл бұрын
The key in comparing the power of the A1 to the AD200 is the 'full zoom' - if you create equal light spreads you will see the difference in power. On the other hand if you add a Magmod Magbeam fresnel to the AD 200 you will see a huge increase in 'apparent' power. Light spreads into a volume- the smaller the volume you contain it in the brighter the light will be...

U are Soooo Crazy Sir ...Just Want to be a photographer like u
My biggest pet peeves after buying this flash are the bounce card is basically useless. It can't stay on the darn flash. It always falls off and causes me to panic to pick it up. Had it almost stepped on at numerous events. I wish the magnet system was as robust as the Magmod setup. I think the Profoto aggressive marketing campaign was a huge success as a bunch of my friends went out and bought these. If you are in the Profoto eco-system already it is not a bad idea, but the amount of money for the flash plus the amount of money for the magnetic accessories that barely stay on the flash when stacked leave me with a bitter taste in my mouth. The battery life also seems to be a lot shorter in the field than the advertised number of flashes however I did not scientifically test this

Thanks for sharing that. The magnet strength is something I haven't heard others talk about. Makes me wonder about the godox v1 too.

Extremely disappointed with Profoto for never releasing an A1 version for the Sony platform. They said 2018 with the Nikon & Canon versions, that became summer of 2018 and then just *in 2018* and well, we are in March of 2019. I work at a camera store and our rental versions of the A1 are constantly being sent in for service and again, NO SONY model available. My guess is they are waiting for the version 2 and work out the bugs, cause there are too many. Appreciate your video and your creativity, keep up the great work and maybe, just MAYBE, Profoto will one day release a version for arguably THE MOST WANTED camera platform, Sony.

Hi, I'm a hobbyist photographer and I plan on doing it professionally in the near future. I currently shoot natural light and sometimes shoot with ocf godox speedlight with umbrella, the setup was cheap and I was happy with the results for sometime and now I want to improve lighting techniques and I want to move into using softboxes, I use the godox trigger and speedlight, and when I tried to find light modifiers I came across the bowens mount and elinchrome mount, is there any one advantage over the other in ease of use or number of modifiers available in both the mount etc is my question, which one should I go for? I'm planning to upgrade to godox ad 400pro in the future So I want the light modifiers to be compatible with the speedlight as well as the strobe, please guide me

The Godox V1 is designed for children, beginner & amateur photographers. The Profoto A1 is designed for photographers that DO NOT do searches or homework. A1 has no overheating & no shutdown. V1 just because it has a li-ion battery, it will overheat & shutdown. You are screwed w/o extra battery. It's best to save the money for the ATG/Nissin MG10 Flash Set.
