Congratulations Darren, really funny review!! You should have added: "No, he did not appear in Miami Vice. He is a drummer first" :DD

Impressive review, Darren Lock. Looking forward to your next upload! I smashed the thumbs up button on your segment. Keep up the fantastic work. Your insights into Phil Collins' health and the documentary's shortcomings were particularly thought-provoking. Have you considered how the absence of archival footage impacts the narrative of legacy for artists like Collins?

Agreed! Two things irked me: 1) The awful stock background music and 2) The constant cut-away to a random musician giving their thoughts on Phil. It was obvious that some had no clue and were given a script to rehearse

That’s what bothered me the most. Much time was wasted on those people. I would rather have heard new things from Phil and more home movies from Nick and Phil. I it’s very sad that Phil looks like he’s 91 instead of 73. Very hard life.

Phil sounds like he’s got dementia or brain damage that slows his thoughts and words. It’s almost like he’s dead inside a shell of his former self. And I love the guy! He’s the soundtrack of my life, along with Genesis so it’s disturbing to see him end like this.

I watched it too. The video made sense to me if viewed from his son eyes... Didn't know it was old footage.

Indeed, it was very much a vanity piece…

Respect your opinion on this, and agree with you it could of been better (should have been done years ago). I heard they originally had clips from actual Genesis and Phil's performances but something happened and it fell through - too expensive or rights, but yeah it really suffers from not having clips. As for Phil's condition... I didn't go to the Last Domino tour because I share your sense of sadness... I just couldn't watch Phil sitting down like that (I saw the 3 tours before it). I can't even watch clips, it's a difficult thing for sure. I think the decline you see in Phil is more than we're privy too, there is some sort of condition he must be dealing with, because he truly looks and sounds like a man in his 90s rather than 70s. But hey, old age will happen to all of us (if we're lucky to live that long). I will say I'm still glad it was done, for no other reason but showing the immense talent that Phil had as one of THE greatest drummers there ever was.

Waiting for the 'Phil Collins: Hook' two hour documentary.

Don’t forget the oft-touted Three Bears movie starring Collins, Bob Hoskins and Danny DeVito.

Yep, it was painful and hard to watch, exactly as you explained. How did you feel about every 3rd rate drummer under the sun "singing" the In The Air drum fill? Da da, da da, da da, da da da dum dum,

I need to do a super cut of that…

I enjoyed hearing Phil speak about what he could remember, but both his son and the Drumeo interviewer are annoying.

I watched it and agree with everything you say. Nic is a generic ‘good drummer’, his Dad on the other hand was an outstanding musician, innovative, original and highly singular in his approach to the instrument (despite what Bill Bruford says), a truly groundbreaking artist.

I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I was also surprised I lasted the 2 hours. Perhaps it is because it felt like maybe it was the last time we’d ever see him in front of the camera.

I have been a Genesis fan since 1972. I feel so sorry for Phil. Agree with you about the Bowie thing. The interview may have been what Phil wanted? Maybe they just didnt have the budget?

Well its 2 hours because they inserted some random utterings by every drummer they had on their program during the last 3 years... that was total useless (apart from getting them all exposed again...). That was annoying. Its sad to see phil in this state, but he seems to be in peace with the past and there's still his wit shining through

Totally agree about PC’s health condition and the Last Domino Tour. However, I truly enjoyed the Drumeo “documentary”.
