This is perfect! I just purchased Reaper and SSD5 two days ago. Being new to DAW's and virtual drums, seeing these specific tools implemented together is exactly what I needed right now. Thank you so much!

Haha you're welcome! It was how to get the drum set to load wasn't it? I had to show people cause it took me forever to figure out!

Great tutorial! I was tapping drums in with the virtual midi keyboard. It wasn't pretty lol this way is MUCH more efficient. Thanks!

Is there a chance in the midi editor to replace the keys at the left side by the name of the drum or cymbal or whatever you want to hit?
@denk_studios10 ай бұрын
You can change where everything goes on the plug in so you can pick what notes you want the drums to be on but I don't think there is a way to label them in Reaper unfortunately.

Oh wow thank you so much! I play metal and i just got the free version the other day. No sound was coming through, do i need to route the plugin differently than i would a guitar plugin or is all pretty much automatic?
@denk_studios2 жыл бұрын
I would check to make sure you double click on the drum kit you want to use so it loads and then you have to arm the track for recording for sound to come through. It should run like any other virtual instrument plug in. If this doesn't work let me know.

Or try MT-PowerDrumKit from Manda Audio... works in my opinion for metal!

Reaper and or ssd is playing notes that I have deleted in the midi plot window. How do I write/draw from scratch?
@denk_studios11 ай бұрын
Highlight the measures on the track, go to insert, new MIDI item. Double click on the midi item. Draw in your notes there. I hope this helps!
@Ultra_Downs11 ай бұрын
@@denk_studiosso what was happening is when I dragged drums into the saw it was creating two tracks layering each other so when I went to delete notes it was playing the track underneath it. Still not sure why it creates two but that was the problem.

omg thank you but how can i open up a midi track without dragging a groove in
@denk_studios2 ай бұрын
@whiteyshred4330 you're welcome. Do the same steps on loading the plug in and then open your midi mapper. If in Reaper highlight the area you want to have midi and click insert on the top menu then hit midi track, double click on the track and you should see the mapper, looks like a piano on the left.

@denk_studios thank you that was super helpful!

you didn't have to delete the crash, you could have just dragged it to the hihat.

It is much easier if you use a drum map, not the piano keys.

I've been programming drums for a while now and since the beat is pretty much the same throughout, it would be much easier to just draw the first measure and then copy it several times. Then, draw in the fills accordingly versus all the splitting and moving stuff around. Plus, you can't say YOU programmed the drums. Someone else did. YOU merely rearranged their work. This is meant to be constructive criticism and should not being taken as rude or condescending. It sounds fine. I just think it's faster and easier to do it my way. Also, it's all work YOU do and not someone else's beat. Thank you for your tutorial though. Have a pleasant day and I sincerely hope you flourish with all you do. 🙂

Yeah I get what you're saying. This is just kinda a beginners tutorial in how to use the plug in and getting started. Once you know the basics definitely make the beats your own. I am a drummer so I have the luxury of just recording myself drumming haha. Thanks for the thoughtful comment and for watching my video 😁

I play drums a lil but I can draw notes in faster than setting up mics and all that. It would be nice to have a studio where it's all set up and ready to go.
