3 1/2 years later and this is the ONLY video that actually shows how to do this and you make it easy. Thank you for this.

Probably the best instructional video I have ever seen. I was a little concerned about using Chirp and this video explained it very clearly.

Your THE ONLY one that goes through Chirp for windows step by step and shows programming. Chirp has been making me crazy. Now I just need to get past the DPL codes for TX AND RX. They appear to be different on the Midlands I have compared to the Btech. Thanks again

Great info. I am using this radio in my semi-truck. I am a new, tech class ham. I talk to hams all over the eastern half of the U.S.

Thank you very much. In describing how to use the repeater reference and move the data to the radio you answered a question I hadn't been able to find on my own. Really appreciate your doing this video.

In my area we have multiple repeaters with the same frequency and differnt CTSS tones and I have them programmed as seperate memory channels with the frequency/CTSS pairs. Put another way, in my current configuration I have multiple channels and there may be the same frequency that has different CTSS tones. Currently the only available options I see and have set each channel as: Tone Mode = TSQL Tone Squelch = CTSS Tone frequency# Speaker Mute = Tone/DTCS (I don't use Optsig) For the radio I have the basic setting SC-MOD = Off Currently when I start memory scanning, the radio will stop scanning on the first channel that has a carrier detected (independent of the associated CTSS tone received) and the squelch will also not open (can't hear the transmission) if the CTSS doesnt happen to match. What I want the radio to do is scan memory channels until a channel frequency AND the specific CTSS assigned is received and then to resume scanning when the carrier with tone stops transmitting on that channel.

Two questions. 1. Where in CHIRP do I set the channel bandwidth to Wide or Narrow? 2. Does the UV-25X4 have to be unlocked to transmit outside of the HAM bands such as MURS?

Great video, I have configured my settings the same Transceiver multi-receiver A+B+C+D, Display mode A frequency, Display mode B name, Display mode C frequency, Display mode D name. Channel display sync AB+CD. Now every time I download to radio it only puts the Chirp programming on radio channel B. It wont configure as its supposed to via chirp. If i scroll through the menu via the mic, all the settings are correct as to the settings described above, but its only putting the programming on the B channel. What am I doing wrong?

How do you put the radio in Clone mode? When I try to read using Chirp there is an error that says "radio did not enter clone mode."

I’m using an older laptop with Windows 10. The screen resolution needed to see the category line in the Chirp spreadsheet is not viewable unless the resolution is 1260x800 I believe. How can I fix this?

Nice video but I got worried when you started referring to the files as code plugs. I'm only familiar with that being a DMR term. But all is good.

I have programmed my desired channels on two of my mini 2/440 radios and the problem that I have is it shows the other channels that came pre-programmed. Has anyone else seen this? My other two radios don't do this.

Question on the UV-25X4. I programmed using Chirp and your setting suggestions, but the relay cycles continuously (click...click...click...click) I only have 2m and 70cm frequencies programmed. What setting will turn off the relay? Thanks for the video BTW

I noticed you are working with .img files. Some other people I know that use chirp use .csv files. Can you tell me why you use .img files? I think with the .csv files you have to import and export them. Thanks,
@BootstrapWorkbench7 жыл бұрын
Joy, when I download from the radio, and save the file, it makes an img file. I suspect that some people are using csv files to avoid moving calibration data, since loading the calibration information for someone else's radio could corrupt your codeplug.

Do you know if you can scan in blocks in memory mode? It has A B C D blocks but can you break your scan list into these blocks and scan them individually?
@BootstrapWorkbench7 жыл бұрын
Paul, I did not see that capability in Chirp while I was programming the radio, but I will check again when I reprogram my radio in the next few days.
@tinman17997 жыл бұрын
Bootstrap Workbench I figured out how to "kind of" make a bank for 200 memory slots. While programming with Chirp, put S for skip on the channels you might not use everyday. Menu option 16 turns skip on or off. Then you sorta have a bank. Not the best but considering the price point ant what you get I'm enjoying my purchase! Thanks for getting back to me!
