Aye truck king were selling them for £250 with a cb27/81 sticker on them before the DTI did some testing on them. But £250 for a 40 channel FM Muppet box was a bit steep

This would be a much better rig if it covered SSB.. still a nice radio though.

It would but what would it have costed, when truck king imported these as 27/81 radio's they were £250 and in the early 90's that was a helva lot of money for a Muppet box.. The rig is reasonably compact and controls are small but SSB would have been the icing on the cake

@@lambrettadave7 yes very expensive which is why there probably isn't many around.. and yes SSB would have been nice maybe then it would have been worth the dosh.

It was still double the price of a ss3900 even here. But I suppose it keeps president's traditional ways as some of there am/FM rigs are expensive like the Johnson and the William

@@lambrettadave7 very true, look at the price of a McKinley.. it's about a hundred pound more now than when I bought mine and they say all new radios will be another 30% more in twelve months.. so my advice to anyone wanting a new radio is to buy one now because it's no use waiting for the price to drop it's not going to happen.. Also I noticed last week the president Himalaya WB has gone up from £169.99 to £199.99.. maybe that 30% rise is already here 🤷🏼♂️

Do you think it's the importers that are taking the mick out of us? Prices for radios is getting daft and I can see nearly new set's holding close to new rig price's
