I also had a proximal humerus fracture, just below the glenoid and angular up through lesser or greater tuberosity. I was advised by a doctor to wait for 4 weeks to move the arm in physiotherapy, it all became really really stiff. I did not get surgery or any cast. I exercised and stretched for 4-5 hours a day for 2 months shortly after getting the sling off. After that I did the same thing for 3-4 hours a day for many many months. I was 38 at the time and they told me at the hospital that I broke the record in recovery time. After 1,5 years, my orthopedic doctor told told me that no one else could do all the things that I could do. So, Be persistent ALL the time and you will see results. I also went on the internet and basically read everything about the shoulder which I thought was relevant. KZbin is REALLY good for that, many ecxellent therapists and doctors are giving advice on how to train.

I am so lucky that I have this brilliant instructor in person at school. I like his books and like the way that he teaches us with real things not only theory.

It's been two weeks ago today that I broke my left humerus head. I can't take pain meds. So I've been in this pain with no meds. Worst pain in my life!

@@claudeis3456 Thank you. I have full mobility and no pain (dull pain when a storm is rolling through). My dr was amazed at how quickly I recovered. I hope you can recover just as quickly. I do think the fact that I didn't take pain meds helped my healing. My body was in 100% alert mode.

French green clay cataplasmes under cabbage leaf (to keep moisture) every night make wonders. But it must be done properly and every evening before sleeping. Good video to make a diagnosis.

It was shock and ahhhhh for me. I have the identical injury. I had a dilaudin for three days only. Why is it such an ordeal to have pain meds? I have no history of drug abuse. It is just wrong. So I am trying cope with just Tylenol.

Surgically having a surgery done with it I.e putting up a plate with screws in does speed up healing process

I did the same dang thing. I am 32 and fell off a ladder. I had 12mm displacement and got an IM rod and screws. I fell off ladder on March 8 2020, had surgery the next day & I'm 7.5 weeks out. Pt 2xs/ week. I have pretty good ROM, but stiffness is horrible in the morning and after running. I had MAU at 6 weeks along with removal of one screw. MAU from ortho helped tremendously. I had my 7.5 follow-up today and bone is healing nicely. I just gotta get my strength back. I guess I'm a little ahead since my arm was never in a sling. It has been depressing as all get out. Doctor said I could get the hardware removed if I wanted to and could get MAU again if stiffness doesn't improve. I was running the next day after surgery with a sling on. LOL

I've broken my humerus 3 weeks ago. 1 week ago had metal plate and screws in. I've not had a cast on and h ave had som e movement. Definitely broken though! My presentation is pretty much the same as this man's e.g. bruising etc.
@jeanfish72 жыл бұрын
You can't really put an effective cast on for this area. A brace is sometimes used for high ( proximal) fractures...I am recovering from a similar break, no surgery but brace on during waking hours...not fun.
@jeanfish72 жыл бұрын
He also had surgical procedure to further stabilize the fracture.
