Depends on the circumstances. If it's Cody at Mania, slow build him, have him go through some more bad moments. Beatdowns, screwed out of wins (ie, MITB here) and just garner more and more sympathy for him, so that moment becomes even bigger and people are even more attached to Cody's win. If it's any World Champ after a long reign, they need time off, away from the spotlight. Reigns will be gone a good while once he loses those belts, which will be perfect to give the audience breathing time away from him, and be happy when he's back.
