Wow. Gluing sideskirts right on the mud, using wood screws, new back box on rusty old exhaust, making sharp turn AND diameter reduction in exhaust, having no idea how to weld, poorly painted fake exhaust tip on right side, Geting paint on brake disc, tightening wheel nuts in circle pattern, huge rims on tiny brakes. Nice work!

Dont understand why people whine. Point is to make it look better visually and not performance wise. 1.6l is fine for someone who lives in the city and goes from point A to B every day. Ofc i would not take 1.6l car, but lot of people do because the taxes and insurances are shit ton cheaper. My older Audi 2.0 has 1000€ yearly insurance and my few years newer Audi 1.8 has 580€ insurance.

So you are saying I can't make a car look better until I make it faster ?
@dullleviathan8 жыл бұрын
I can agress with you on that. Do you normally see Honda civic type-r ep3's that have 2.0L engines producing 200bhp? Well, I have a honda civic sport ep2 producing 108bhp and the reason for buying one is because I am young with almost 2 years experience of driving and so close to getting 2 years no claims. Also, the insurance is cheaper for me because I am 19 and hardly have any cash to spend on taxing and insuring a faster car. All I did was I made it look like a type-r but also stanced it out with not so crazy camber, slammed, mugen spoiler, type-r brake conversion (my original calipers were fucked before the conversion), custom performance exhaust, aem induction kit and rota grid 6 spoke wheels. I honestly love the car to bits and the way it looks! I'll probably get shit from some people saying it's slow but I don't care what people say about it. In fact, it's what you like and you built the car for yourself.

+503cartel primer is not only a paint but a process. Its thicker than paint and smoothes sanding swirls . In this application it would also give a nice nuetral color to cover over so the blue isnt skewed by the red its covering. He could of used one coat primer and two paint. to cover this wirhout primer it just takes more paint. Primer and paint together just means thicker paint.

You are all right guys. This project does not include great works and everybody knows that this is just a kind of renovation. Everybody is asking that why they didn't change the engine or choose real WRX STI for the modification. I would like to give you some information about the swap procedure in Turkey. You can't change the original engine without permission of the legal rights. The permission is that you can only change your OEM engine up to 30 percent maximum hp. For example if you have 90 hp 1.6 liter engine then you can only swap the maximum 1.6 liter 117 hp a new engine. The engine capacity (displacement) can't exceed more than 1.6 liter. Why I'm saying this because I have an E30 1.6 M10 and I can't swap my old engine to M50 or M52. :) Of course you can do that but it will be illegal and you will be arrested in the first traffic control if the police wants to see your engine. :) Turkey's absurd rules . This program can't change the engine, transmission and also can't add modified exhaust, turbo or tuned parts to the car. Everything is forbidden and limited.
@ejot28 жыл бұрын
So it means, police knows all cars engine's. They check engines capacity in the control point. Even in my country there is this limitation, but people who trying to control these engines swaps just don't know what engine is it and they think its right one which belong to the car. Also it means your country knows all modification part who are in the market, also they know if for that car belongs turbo, also that there is remaped car (tuned). If it's written in paper, doesn't mean these rules work.
@sun-cream8 жыл бұрын
Of course every police can't understand this is different engine or not. But they are checking our car licence paper and it says that that engine has 1.6 liter and 4 cyl. But there is 6 clynder powerful engine. How can they understand? The sound of the engine is the answer. They can catch you in that point. It can be low risk but it is a risk :) On the other hand every two year we have to go the inspection. The employees who are working in that inspection company (TUV) will check your car's health, engine number, chassis vin number, active safety euipments, driveline and general condition of the car. So, these are difficulties and all these shits kill your dream about the swap plans :)
@ejot28 жыл бұрын
Have you tried this yourself? I don't believe that in Turkey TUV inspection are so smart that hey can recognize all engines in all variaty of cars. For example does your document shows its 4 cilinder engine? If yes its more hard, but still possible. It shows that this engine have turbo on it? Everything is included in documents? I don't think so. If they check all this stuff in all kind of cars, it would take infinity to check all cars. We have the same regulations, but nobody cares. Pay them 50-100eur and they won't see anything. So you can do whatever you want if you really want it :)
@ejot28 жыл бұрын
Specially when Turkey is not in EU zone. It mean you don't have very strict reguliations like we do. And here are almost all old cars with swapped engines. From 4cilinder to v12. Nobody punishs you if you are smart and you know what you are doing :)
@sun-cream8 жыл бұрын
You don't know anything about Turkey then :) We are not in EU Zone but we are applying most of the EU regulations in the many area. For example you can not import anything without CE or EU standart rules. You asked me many questions but I will give you general answer about all. In the meantime apologize for my bad English level. Hope you understand what I'm saying :) I couldn't try to change my engine from M10 to M50 or M52 because of these stupid regulations or mandatories. I know everything but I can't. My car's documents and papers must be completed because I use that car with my family. I don't want to have a trouble on the road with police or during the TUV inspection. My car's document shows engine displacement, type of fuel, weight, seat numbers, purpose of using, color, model year and type (for e.g BMW 320d Coupe M). All these informations can be written on the paper. So, how can I swap it? It says 4 cyl but sound has 6 cyl :) Risk!!! Sure, you can do everything in the world. You can put CFM56 turbo jet engine to your car if you have a lot money and unlimited possibilities :) If you want you can check the Turkish car licence document. Just follow the link. gun-aysigorta.com/upload/image/ornek_ruhsat.jpg Regards

Guys, you put your time, work and resources into such car to make it look better (or not, depending on somebody's taste), so it is a shame that you put a fake hood scoop and fake exhaust tip on the other side. These things make your whole work appear cheap. My advice for you would be: 1.If you are putting on a hood scoop or vent, make a cut in the hood and make it actually FUNCTIONAL. Better is no scoop or vent what has no function, than a big one that will do nothing. Eventually, if you don't want to do a large opening in the hood, add a small scoop on the side and install cold air intake with cone filter under it to it catch some more air with it. 2.Do NOT put fake exhaust tips for symmetry. It is really not a big cost nor labour to as someone below wrote, getting a T pipe and a 90 degrees bend pipe, to make both sides working. There was a space under bumper to do that, even with a smaller diameter pipe but still made it more or less FUNCTIONAL. I know that budget surely pays a big role in your show, but those two modifications above do not require much work or money, are very easy and would make it all way better ;) Overall you've done good job, although I wouldn't modify an Impreza 1.6 like that, it is way to slow to have added such spoilers and I'd eventually go for good intake and exhaust system, spark plugs and few smaller details, nice wheels and lowering springs and just make it looking nice and tidy, maybe just add hood spacers to make hot air come out easily.

I have mixed feelings about this remake. I get it though. It was purely for looks and has nothing to do with performance. But what I have mixed feelings about is how they went about sanding and repainting. For one thing, I would've sanded the entire car down to it's bare metal and then prime and then repaint and wouldn't have cut the corners like this shop did. Then as for the brakes. It's not all that difficult to have replaced those drums with disc brakes. Painting the drums just looked so cheap and is another cut corner. And then the hood scoop. I'm going to guess that this was only glued on? I would've cut the hood and done a proper mounting job. I hope it holds at speed cause if not you could cause it to fly off, crack the windshield and possibly injure someone who's behind that car or even the driver. The seats and steering wheel looked good though. But cutting corners on the paint job, paneling, hood modifications, brakes and so on is just a bad cheap idea. I would probably stay away from this shop unless I needed something done on the interior and even that I cringe about.
