This is a mute point and not to burst your bubble but I have owned a BMW k1200s. My 05' bmw had a sealed rear diff.(No drain or fill plug) The oil from factory was supposed to be for the life of the bike. A complete oversight IMO and they did later change the rears to include a fill and drain plug. In order to change out the fluid, you have to pull the whole shaft out of the universal and rotate the entire assembly by 90* in order to dump all the oil out of the speed sensor hole. It was kinda a PITA but not bad if you know what you are doing. Definitely not a 5 min job like the mags. I wound up putting royal purple fully synthetic gear oil in it just because I didn't want to risk drive failure in mine.

Thanks for the video bro. What if i dont change it ? My 1983 magna has 50000km passed. And i have no clue if anyone chenget it before me buying it. Also whst if i dont change the brake fluid? Any idea?

Depends. Nothing may happen, or you could have the bearings in the final drive fail. If you have never changed it there's no telling what condition the gear oil is in. It's easy to do and cheap insurance against failure. If the bearings or gear fails here it could lock the rear wheel while you're riding it. Brake fluid absorbs water vapor over time. It can cause the pistons in either the master or caliper to rust internally and seize. So again it's cheap insurance to change it. If it's really dark in color, then it's probably time to flush it. If the brake fluid is light & golden it's probably still clean. Plenty of videos out there about how to flush brake fluid. Ride safe! Thanks for watching. Much appreciated. Mike

Agreed!!! We used to have a used 2003 325xi BMW auto. What a money pit... Won't go into the horrid details but anyone who says BMW's (cars or motorbikes) are reliable are deluding themselves. It's just the attraction to the brand.

So I managed to track down a scrap 88 VF750 in my city. I'm gonna have it restored at a custom shop. My question: is this a good bike for long rides? I'm planning on doing a year-long motorcycle trip on this thing, so how do you think it will fare?

Depends on how long your legs are. If your a tall person probably good idea to invest in forward controls or make a set. Otherwise the Super Magna has long legs and can cruise quite nicely. The only other concern is luggage. With the up-swept pipes it's hard to fit any kind of saddle bag. So a pair of tail bags probably the best option. I rode my Super from Michigan down to Greensburg PA and back. Remember the fuel tank isn't that big as with the V4 it's mostly air-box under the tank. So 100miles and your lookin for fuel. Ride safe! I have an 83 1100 with straightpipes and just started to maintain it mine is all ratbike I use good filters and just medium grade oil if anyone knows where I could find a wiring schematic that would be great
