Thanks for this. Only knew about rear window and fuel filler holes you must keep open so this was a surprise to learn. So today I jacked my Miata up and opened all the drain holes along the slls, some were tough but mange in the end. Lots of water came running out which no body in the car had ever heard sloshing about like yours did, Fortunately all inner flooring has always been dry. Thanks Mate.

Good choice on doing this. Theres a very big chance that your rocker panels were going to rust badly because of the ester stuck in there

Ok Change rain rail..bottom of rear screen. .very easy Drill all drain holes slightly larger . mazda did a factory recall to do this.zinc em up. Spray internal sills with. Por 15 or dinitrol.
@Aidanburns134 жыл бұрын
how do you get the por 15 in there
@mgee67866 жыл бұрын
Those two points in between is where the jack is to be placed. You must have a rain rail drain issue. To have that much water in there. Yes make sure your drain rail drains past the point of the underside so the tube is exposed to the underside.
@OhYeahAboutThat6 жыл бұрын
Most likely. I replaced the rain rail when I did the top. The aftermarket rain rail was garbage compared to the worn factory one it used to have.

I have an NC so I don't really get where that water is coming from, but holy cow that's a LOT of water in there! My NC is leaking and I've spent over $600 at the dealer getting service to find the leaks and fix them.

Check your drain holes near both the seat belt towers. Usually they clog up and water gets into the cabin from behind the seats then onto the floorboard.
@OhYeahAboutThat7 жыл бұрын

I have a 2002 mk 2 with the same problem. Is it the same to empty the water ad the mk 1
@OhYeahAboutThat Жыл бұрын
Yes. Same procedure. I think the water comes from the rain rail drains entering the rocker panels.

What am I looking for exactly? I find the jack points in the pinch weld, but the surrounding area (I felt around probably about a 6 inch diameter circle) just feels like solid metal - nothing that will get opened up by just some light prying with a screwdriver. It looks like you are working just behind the pinch weld - is that right?
@OhYeahAboutThat6 жыл бұрын
ytnym yes. There are two weep holes, as shown in the video fingernail, that you open with the screwdriver. Yours should have them unless your rockers have been repaired and they were somehow covered. They are meant to drain water but mine were clogged.
@ytnym6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I found them, didn't realize they were *in* the pinch weld.

@OhYeahAboutThat5 жыл бұрын
Leaky top and/or top drain tubes. It’s very common. I think both of mine were leaking.

I am getting water driver side only in front of the jack.How do you get to the top drain tube? The top is new and it's dry inside passenger compartment
@OhYeahAboutThat5 жыл бұрын
With the top down, there are drain holes on the right and left side, down near the folded frame. You clean them out with a coat hanger. They extend down to under the car. You can google it and see what I mean. It’s very common for those to clog with dirt and leaves.
