I just want to thank you for documenting and sharing your journey with your CB900! I am very fond of this motorcycle as it is my first. I bought my 1981 Honda CB900C at a local farm auction for $350, and much like your bike, mine had sat outside behind a shed for several years. It was not running when I brought it home, and all of the rubber (air box and carburetor boots and all) was dry rotted and crumbling apart. As a 23 year old college kid, I did not have much money to put into my bike, but I saved up for all of the necessary parts I needed to revive it and spent every free weekend working on it. I will never forget the moment when it fired up for the first time! I am very inspired by people like you who are willing to share their experience and knowledge with others who have the same passion. My dream is to turn my CB into as much of a cafe racer as it will allow me to do. Thank you for taking the time to produce and share this series. I really appreciate what you do! I wish you good luck with you recent move and I eagerly await the next episode of Project 900!

I'm sure you know by now but just to let everybody else know a lot of the newer CBR Parts work well on these bikes. Wheels brakes several other items you can scrounge off newer car. I bought a wrecked CBR and found a lot of the parts to be very useful.

Really like the series. I hope you keep it up man. I am rebuilding my godfathers bike that he bought new in 82 and it’s been in his garage sitting for the last 10-15 years. I’m keeping it almost completely stock besides upgraded lights. And a new paint. It’s my first bike and your videos are teaching me a lot about it. Keep me coming. ✊🏼

I am in Mexico much of the winters. Summers in North Idaho are short and we do a lot of the fun summer stuff when there. My friend down here in Mexico just picked up an '82 CB750 cafe bike that was recently finished by a shop in Tulum. It did get my juices flowing to get back on that project! I think you can expect to see at least some kind of updates to that project in the near future. I just have to get on it!

@MotoMedic4 жыл бұрын
Dude! Mike I wish I was able to be cranking on that thing right now! Unfortunately I'm limited on space at the moment. Until I reopen my shop or move into a new place with a nice big shop that isn't part of my garage I'm limited to one bike at a time, and the FZ600 is WAY closer to being finished. Thanks for the comment though! I DO still have the bike in various boxes and will be getting back to it ASAP.

@@MotoMedic I watched that series today as I'm on the verge of buying a 900c myself. Does the high/low transmission worry or intrigue? You also mentioned that you moved 1000 miles, where are you located now? You don't have to answer if thats not something you want on KZbin, just curious if you are close to me. I would love to have someone doing this close by.

Are you trying to find an original looking or even oem tank? I have one... I'll be going with a different tank on mine. I want cutouts for the knees and have looked at some Suzuki tanks as well as Kawasaki.

Funny you should ask! If you've seen the latest on the suzuki GSXR600, then you'll know that bike is toast. So since I have a nice set of forks... Looks like the 900 project (which has been boxed up for nearly 3 years or so) will breathe some new life. Thanks for the comment and lighting a fire under my butt! 🤣 I do need to get going on that!

Hey! It’s Skywarser, I’m just on my other account, and I need your advice about something. I just bought my cb900 yesterday and it makes a big knock (more present at low rpm) from the center of the engine. I’m wondering if it’s a rod bearing or a cam/main chain loose, I really think it’s a rod bearing, but I don’t know why this sound suddenly appear like that, really weird, when I tried it before buying it, it wasn’t there 🤔. Last question, is it really hard to remove the engine and replace a rod bearing for someone who never work on motorcycle engine without any special tools ? I know, my english isn’t really well, it’s cuz I’m french canadian haha😅 Thank you very much! Have a good one!
@MotoMedic5 жыл бұрын
Any time there's a knock down low it usually isn't a good sign. Cam chains slap... Loose valves or rocker arms tick. Knocking is usually heavy.

Are you willing to sell the OEM tank?

Can I add fuel pump to this CB900c, have you think of it ?
@MotoMedic4 жыл бұрын
I don't know how easy it would be to add at in-tank fuel pulp being that these old bikes used a vacuum style or simple gravity feed for fuel. Adding a fuel pump would be a modification I don't know I'd try. Mostly because it isn't required. Unless you have fuel injection which requires a certain PSI to ensure the fuel is spraying into each cylinder when it is supposed to.
@MotoMedic4 жыл бұрын
Pump lol.... Not pulp.
