It such a hoot watching this on Sci-Fi back in the day. Glad it's got a remaster.

One of the most interesting Easter Eggs that beautifully hooked western audiences, comic book fans in particular... is the subtle hint that "A-Ko" (a nickname that implies her real name is longer and beginning with the letter A, but never mentioning her full legal name) is the daughter of two mysterious, glasses-wearing parents, named "Clark" and "Diana"... and suddenly the question of why she's so inhumanly strong doesn't need answering anymore... 😃😃

The bracers she wears also are a call back to Wonder Woman. They also keep her power suppressed.
@Dr_Grid14 ай бұрын
Her full name is actually Eiko Magami, we see it written on the chalk board when she introduces herself on her first day at Graviton High
@hinoron65284 ай бұрын
@@Dr_Grid1 (checks kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5LZiJiFo6hsoLs) Hmm... so I see. Fair point (and cited; a rare treat in YT comment discussions! Well done!) Yet that's not how her name is on the series title. Also there's the other variants where they're not in a high school setting. Also who's to say her secret birth name and the name her disguised parents registered her as with her school are necessarily the same? There's room for mystery still! 👓

Making their names sound like A-ko (Eiko), B-ko (Beiko), and C-ko (Seiko) was actually a joke. The letters their names sounded like was the first letter of each characters primary attribute (Athletic, Brains, and Cute).

Look, I love Project A-Ko a lot. It's very well made, a wonderful classic, great in just about every way, I grew up with it and still sticks with me now...... but your statement is absolutely very much objectively not true at all. I'm really sick of people that have this bizarre and honestly willfully ignorant need and obsession with having to blatantly disrespect everything modern in brutally unfair terms to compensate for your elitist nostalgia. Why do people have to make themselves look so utterly insecure that they have to bash modern day anime just to try and force this false narrative. For you to sit here and try to make it sound like things such as Redline, Promare, A Silent Voice, Demon Slayer, One Piece films, Violet Evergarden, Kill la Kill, Nichijou, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, and at least 85 other anime made since this havn't massively propelled themselves into a high standard of quality as well, is a statement that only someone willfully ignorant of anime and has no idea what they're talking about would say. You're not only entirely wrong, but objectively so, as well.
@CrapheadMoleman7 ай бұрын
@the-NightStar wow you're a bit rattled. Nothing to do nostalgia, the majority of stuff from the 80's and 90's does look better than the majority of modern stuff. I didn't say all either. Redline is one of the best ever and the reason it stands up with the older stuff is because it's hand crafted.

I remember catching this on the Sci-Fi channel late at night, along with other anime movies, including Fatal Fury. I had zero idea what was happening (I had to have been around 10 at the time and this is before anime hit it big in the US), I was dead tired because it was around 0300, but I enjoyed it no less. The missile hopping scene is easily one of my favorite scenes.

Yeah, the remaster for this one on blu ray is stunning. Thought I'd prefer the 4:3 original better, but the 16:9 cut of the remaster really highlights just how much detail is there. A truly amazing blu ray that looks excellent on a 4K TV, even with just a normal blu ray player like the PS3.

Hi there's a issue with my copy of blu-ray, around 17 minutes in when B-Ko is talking about her plan, the video glitches green and artifacts for several seconds before returning to normal. This only happens in the 4:3 presentation original that I was watching it does not occur in the 16:9 Is this a known issue for any of the runs of the blu-ray?

When you realize who her parents are at the end of the film **spoilers** you'd THINK they would had taught her the importance of keeping her powers **CONCEALED!!!**Yet oddly nobody ever seems to suspect she's more than human, save for that part where she stops a steel beam from falling on C-Ko's head.
