But I think KSP is more of a vast learning ocean - so many important milestones and things to learn - just getting beyond the Mun is a huge accomplishment in itself, but despite that there's always new things to try and push yourself. I've been playing KSP (not continuously) since 2012, and thanks to the incredible modding community, there's still many new things to do and learn. It never ends, and that's why I love KSP.

It's quite a bit bigger than an N1 stage - instead of NK-33s, each engine is F1As - similar engine count, much more power. The upper stage engines (17x M1-U) are based on a real engine prototype, the largest hydrolox engine ever built.

News crew timing! USS Andoria is at lunar inclination - at the time of year the crew depart, that would be a nighttime departure from KSC. Flying to Kourou allows for a daylight launch, better for the media crews on the historic day.

Just amazing. Epic mission, great video production. But one question: It looks like the sea launches were done from just offshore of Florida, and the N2 launches were from the Cape, so why was the crew sent from Kourou? That seems like an unnecessary diversion.

maybe it's for inclination changes?
@TDChannelKSP2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! USS Andoria launches into lunar inclination - during the middle of the year that's during the daylight. By the time the crew are sent up, the launch window from Cape would be at night. Going to Kourou allows both a longer showcase of Skylon, and the ability to film them during the day.

On such a long journey, the rotating area should have a distance of at least fifty meters between the living quarters and the center of gravity to minimize the effects of the Coriolis force. Otherwise, such a very long journey could be quite frustrating for the astronauts. Nevertheless, it is a very well made video and a well thought out concept.

Quick question-how did you plot the braking maneuvers? Especially at SOI changes, planning such long burns would be very difficult
@TDChannelKSP2 жыл бұрын
Stock maneuver nodes work relatively well - not perfect though, so I have to do multiple burns, & switch between USS Shran and USS Andoria each time. Plutos SOI is fairly small, so most of the speed is scrubbed prior to encounter.
@anonymous-zo5ml2 жыл бұрын
I have a few questions. How are you able to do a dual launch without your frames per second going to crap. Your computer must be decked out in order for it to handle the 10+ mods and high part count.
@TDChannelKSP2 жыл бұрын
It's a little slow - I put the physics delta time limit to "0.01", which makes the game as slow as possible with the highest framerate. (it's still meh though) then I speed it up a good bit in post (usually around 300%) and edit out stutters, and that's how you get nice footage from it.

Question! I've noticed that both the Shran and Andoria have large radiators, but I don't see any solar panels or obvious RTGs, so how is power created and supplies to the ships? Andoria, at the least, needs electricity to maintain life support, so where does it come from?
