Of all the animals in this montage, I like the bushdog the best, so cute! When Johnny stopped petting it, it started squeaking and Johnny said, "more, more!" in Clem Kadiddlehopper's voice.

i was lucky enough to know Joan and her twin sister Linda during high school before she went on Johnnys show. She worked at the Zoo part-time, then was chosen Miss San Diego Zoo if i remember correctly. our families used to camp out in Anza Borrego on weekends, swim, hike, ride motorcycles..so fun. Joan was a favorite with Johnny because she was so natural with him, didn't try to steal the show. believe me, she is so nice (irl) in real life.

I was about five or six in 1962 when Johnny Carson first debuted. I'd lie awake hearing my dad roar with laughter listening to the show. I then watched him till 1992 when I was about 35 or 36 years old. Miss him so much! These bozo's today cannot compare to Johnny!

This was a terrific show and I remember us watching Joan Embry on this show when I was a kid, because we loved animals and would always catch the episodes when she would come out. Johnny Carson was so funny and quick-witted, with quips for every person and every occasion....really a legendary interviewer and comic.

Brings back so many memories when I was a kid - my parents would specifically let me stay up to watch the episodes of Johnny Carson when the animals were on - loved that he almost always had them on first - because I think he knew the weeones would be staying up just to watch... My favorite was when Jim Fowler brought either a tiger or some large cat - don't remember what - but I do remember that Johnny leaned over to pet or something and it took a swipe at him - never knew how fast Johnny could run and jump into Ed McMahon's arms - classic!

Back when late night TV was actually fun to watch. Grew up watching the tonight show every night when I was a teenager - great way to end the day. Carson was never an ass, never tried to one-up his guests...he just wanted a fun show and he succeeded every night.

@ceceliaragsdale31865 жыл бұрын
True that! Late nights are now a snooze fest. The shows are named after the hosts because that is what the shows are about-- the hosts. Only Graham Norton & Corbin have all their guests on simultaneously, which often leads to seriously funny stuff. I am going to guess that the other late night's couldn't handle sharing the spot light, where's the ego strokes for them in that..? Oh, my! what's a host to do if he's not constantly the center of attention! My theory is boosted by the fact that their chairs sit higher than the guests, that way they can appear taller than the guest. Kinda like how you are suppose to open your coat & hold out your arms so that a bear thinks your are bigger than you are. Plus they get to look down on everyone they interview. Helps those soft egos feel more important, irritates the crap out of me! The interviews are lame and more often than not just a couple of minutes to promote a movie, then they are excused. But if you want fun in late night try: The Graham Norton Show (which contrary to my thought line... is more about the guests) Well, the exception is the only rule!
