Hey, just came across your channel today and I am loving the content. I do not have much mechanical experience but it has been easy for me to follow along with how you explain the work. I have a 85 f350 with a 460 that has been swapped to a zf5 and was able to pick up a few tips from your videos that I can put into practice. Thank you - I will be checking in for new videos.

Between this truck and project brutis , you have covered so much in what it would take to completely pull apart and reassemble one of these trucks. I have an 86 f250 with a 6.9 and because of you i have a lot of confidence in swapping in a 7.3 idi turbo motor.. if you pull the motor out of brownie please film the removal process! Id love to know how that process works . Im not sure where to chain up the motor to the cherry picker. Thanks for all you do brother. Hope you are enjoying retirement!!

Hi Tyler - there should be two or three lift hooks on the intake manifold bolts. I think I bought another one so I was able to use four lifting points. Your engine should have these; if not, check eBay. Good luck and thanks for the kind words! Scott

I just wanted to say I love your videos. One thing I would do differently, when changing the fluids in the transmission or differential, remove the fill plug FIRST. Sucks to drain the fluid and can’t put new in.

someone's running offroad diesel;) hope it doesn't get dipped. if you are doing an alignment you should probably do tie rod ends, drag link and maybe radios arm bushings.
@THEBULLETPROOFGARAGE4 ай бұрын
Yep. It was a farm truck for the past 10 years and off the road. I've filled up both tanks with regular diesel, but you can obviously still see some red tint to it. Good point about front end parts. Thanks

get a bolt same thread as drain plug weld washer on bottom screw in and slide extension or some type bar and simply wedge against exaust pipe or front i beam and pull down
@THEBULLETPROOFGARAGE4 ай бұрын
I thought about doing that, but I'm concerned that I would dislodge the drain plug nut and then I'd have to pull the engine. Thanks, Scott
@user-vd2ek1bf1l4 ай бұрын
Always pull your fill plugs before your drain plugs just in case so your not stuck with no fluid because you cant fill it back up

Ah about the 6.9 vs 7.3L filter head some people swap them because the 7.3L head is much more prone to air intrusion from various ports/plugs

Whenever I change the fuel filter in my 1988 F250 7.3 IDI, I fill it with clean ATF. It's good for the pump and injectors. It acts as a good detergent to clean them.

Your better off using amsoil for all of the fluids both transmission fluid and engine oil plus deff fluid thats what we have used for years and i have over 390,000 miles on my F350 and 400,000 miles on my F250 .My wife's truck has over 300,000 miles all of it while using amsoil without issue.

I have a request if you don’t mind. Can you make a whole video on the return line rebuild please? I am currently trying to fix up my 89 brick node and I have everything taken apart. And also if you have any information on bleeding the clutches on the zf5, my clutch goes up and down with the hand there is no tension and it has a dry clutch reservoir. Apologies for the long message, I want to get my 7.3 up and running already thanks 👍

Hey Scott, is this truck going to stay NA and 2WD or is it going to be a continuation like Brutus? I was sad to hear you had to sell Brutus with all that work you put into it. If you're going to tow I'd say a turbo kit would be almost mandatory for a truck that big. Subscribed and looking forward to the progress. Makes me REALLY want to build a crew cab.
@THEBULLETPROOFGARAGE4 ай бұрын
Hey Aaron - good to hear from you. The truck will stay NA and 2WD for now, but I'll see about adding a turbo after doing some towing with it. On the 4x4, I think it would be much easier to buy a crew cab 4x4 single rear wheel truck and convert to dual rear wheels. Thanks, Scott
