If it helps, mine was worse, much worse. It really should of been scrapped but after 12 years just didn't have the heart. 5 years later it's now my almost daily driver. Looking forward to seeing how yours comes along 😊

Well worth the effort, early 2 door only going up in value. Had to laugh when you were doing the sealant, all I could think of was this is a young women that needs one of Mikes tools ! Hope he reads this and sends you one from Canada. I did a 1993 4 door and never had a problem with mechanical parts but please don’t break or loose trim bits they are a nightmare to find especially the 2 doors. Love seeing you back doing this it’s inspirational.

I love to hear you narrate your videos. very informative and relaxing. As for the Land Rover...seeing what you uncovered, I think I would cry. But I've seen the work you've done in your other videos and I know you have the resolve and strength of mind to handle this challenge. Your truck is well worth saving.

But if you would like to send me your old Gators, I could make some hand stitched leather ones... Just let me know... :-)))) xx

Glad to see you got your D1 you were wanting. I've been restoring mine a bit too. Next on the list is a new headliner. I just need to find a color I like. I'm thinking brown and tan houndstooth. Thinking about getting rid of my old leather seats, driver's side is shot. The boot floor is quite a bit of work for you. You are very ambitious! I'm feeling self conscious now for putting off replacing my broken radio antennae because I have to remove a fender or apron.

At first when working on repairing the well known rust issues on both the early 200 and 300 tdi Discovery models it does seem a bit daunting, however they are not as hard to repair as initially thought. The repairs needed to be done are all well documented online as well as a host of sellers selling the required parts to repair them. Good luck with this project .

For automotive carpets I have found the best thing to use to clean them is TFR (Traffic Film Remover) the Caustic stuff not the non caustic stuff then scrub it in with a stiff brush then rinse it off with a pressure washer then either wet vac them or hang over wall or washing line to drip dry

Blimey, that looks daunting. In isolation, each of the issues (sills, bodywork, seats, doors, trim etc) aren't especially terrible but all together they're going to make for a big project. And that's before you investigate the oily bits. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out in the end, though. Judging by how the Defender turned out, this is going to be the nicest 200tdi in the country! Makes me feel ashamed to be procrastinating over repairing the inner wheelarches on my TD5 Disco. :-/

Looks like the rear door frame will need doing because of corrosion to the rear body mounts (common), so before you pull off the back bumper make sure you weld a bit of box section or bar across the frame to preserve the shape. Good luck

Hi Sophie, that was an impressive start to the strip down of the Disco. I'd heard stories about the boot floors, fortunately the two that I had were sound in that area but I suspect that if I'd kept them for much longer they would have succumbed to the rot. Why ever did Land Rover not address the rust issues in these otherwise great vehicles? All the best and I look forward to watching the progress of the project.

Great video Sophie. I'm amazed on the amount of rust in the Disco. Once you get replacement panels are you going to use automotive body seam sealant? I hope you also get to use underbody sealant to stop that rust coming back. Are 2nd hand parts/trim still plentiful from wreckers in the UK? Might be worth pricing & checking out.
